Ed Boon hints that Kitana may be in MKX

From a more pessimistic perspective, maybe Boon retweeted that picture as something of an 'obituary' for Kitana, and he has no intention of bringing her back whatsoever. :O

I mean, she's probably the second-most popular female MK fighter, so it would be surprising if she didn't turn up at all, but hey, you never know...

Second? She is no doubt the first most popular.

More people think of Mileena and her murder mouth before Kitana.

People really like Kitana but i've never heard of the majority backing her over Mileena.

I would put money down that if you had a poll open to people with some semblance of knowledge about MK, and asked them to choose who they like the most, or want to see again, or think is most memorable out of the two Mileena would win.

Sonya is more popular than both, not just in Mk9 but also considering the franchise as a whole.

Don't think so. I used to follow many character popularity polls and Kitana was always above Mileena.

Also have you seen the MK official site that keeps records of how many times a character had been played in MK9? Kitana was first female. Mileena was even below Sonya and Jade.

More people think of the good princess and her d1 before Mileena.

I don't know why people get their jimmies rustled with characters dying in MK. I mean when you establish the afterlife as being a physical realm that can be traveled to then you pretty much open up death as NON-permanent. It's like how "revolving door" Hades (the place) is in Greek Mythology. You can just stroll in there if you're bad ass enough and pluck out people that are dead.

Trivializing the significance of death in a work of fiction can be argued to hurt the dramatic impact of the story overall but, lets be serious here, MK lore isn't necessarily a work of high fiction.

I think Boon just wanted to show that they are bringing some characters that are presumed dead. Not necessarily Kitana. I wait till some will turn out to be Shang in disguise)))

I don't agree.
Everybody outside of MK is familiar with the blue dressed girl and her lethal fans, due to her impact in pop culture.
Indeed Mileena is popular too, but still, people who don't know a fuck about MK will call her "Katana"

Agreed. I've seen gamers that don't play MK call Mileena "Kitana". /facepalm

On the subject of Mileena's popularity, she is the only MK female to appear in Playboy....

I never cared to find out, her design was enough to put me off.

I suppose the MK2 & UMK3 skins slightly made up for it.
