B) Nobody bitched about Kung Lao's standing 2. We just pointed out that he doesn't have a reliable string that starts with a mid (again, fighting game terminology NOT MK9).
I have no idea what the other stuff is about but Lao has B1 as a mid..

He also has B3, which isn't a mid but is decent.

Stryker beats Kitana, and his standing 4 on its own is better than half of Sheeva and Nightwolf's moves.
Saying that all of Kano's strings are interruptable isn't quite valid enough to put him at worst in the game. The same could be said for Raiden, a character we think is great, despite being used rarely.

Both of which I mentioned in another post.

Nobody said Lao doesn't have a mid. We just said he doesn't have a reliable mid for pressure. B1 is good for spacing in some match-ups though it's slow hella whiff punishable, and it's good for punishing opponents in ball state (Raiden's tele, Scorpion's tele, etc...).

B3 is decent in certain situations but lacks range. Again, nobody said Kung Lao literally doesn't have mids, just not a reliable one.

It's also good on jump ins. I use it in footsies...

B3 is for up klose.

And they are reliable, they're just not easy mode..

@coolwhip the statement by @ManOfManyActs was that lao does not have a mid.....period. I use MK9 terminology (along with several others) so this made no sense to me either. when someone says "mid" and is referring to a character in MK9, it is only logical to assume they are talking about a move that hits low blocking characters, Its not THAT difficult of a concept. if I played SF or Tekken for 4 years, id probably use those games terminology. but some people only play Mk9 (thus the reasoning behind using MK9 terminology on an MK9 forum)

i wasn't arguing he was broken, i was arguing that the person who designed him gave him a multitude of tools other characters don't have all in one package without thinking about it... not that he is broken and all of them are perfect in the meta. you have to be naive if you think they were "balancing him" by not giving him that string, the hop kick was meant to be useful though it isn't. I didn't say he was s+ tier, i was saying when they made him in comparison to stryker it's just mentally handicapped from a balance standpoint, you are arguing a point that isn't relevant to the point i made, the point is they gave him an absurd variety of tools. You are stupid if you think they had "balance in mind" by not giving him a mid because they gave him a low anyways.
If you are going to have a discussion, I suggest you stop using words as ''stupid''. You said KL had everything, but he doesn't, I just pointed that out. Whether it was intentional or not, KL has a design that revolves around filling the hole of not having a mid.

Cage's F3 is not an overhead. WTF are you talking about?

And nobody ever refers to mids as in overheads. That's part of the reason NRS went back to using universal fighting game terminology in Injustice. Again, WTF are you talking about?
Don't bother, maybe he is just trolling really hard

99% of the people on this site refer to mids as mids and overheads as overheads. People have done so for 3 years, the fact that you guys don't know this says a lot.

Even so, I'm confused as to how anyone could see 'overhead' and not instinctively think 'move that can't be blocked low'. Since it goes over... your head...

And the comments to the effect of 'Kung Lao has no mid' were clearly hyperbolic - how many fighting game characters have literally NO mids lol?

Does Stryker really beat Kitana? I'm just asking, I have no idea. But thinking about the match-up I'd be quite surprised.

Raiden's best string is arguably f24 which isn't interruptable.

Wel in that case it wouldn't be hard for you to find at least 5 threads for me where they refer to overheads as mids. Also make sure there is actually some discussion going on there and not just some posts that everyone has ignored. Saying that people refer to overheads as mid on this site is just a blatant lie.

this isn't going to go anywhere. i'll refer to mediums (as the game itself labels them) as mids, you can call them overheads (which I have no qualm with). the original argument you made was that lao does not have a fast standing normal that hits low blocking, low hit box characters. and the lack of this one tool, totally offsets how ridiculously good he is with every other tool he has, therefore making him balanced and over all no better than he was intended to be. just wanted to clarify that.

STRYKIE

Are ya' ready for MK11 kids?!
Lol Stryker is not the worst. It is cleeeeearly Kano.. C'mon people.. Eeeevery single string is interruptable
So are Stryker's? In fact, the gaps in Stryker's strings are so big, Kung Lao can SPIN out of them.

There's no way stryker is the worst.

And all you KL downplayers can just gtfo right now. Not top 5... LOL
I think a lot of people look at the 'top 5' argument a little too superficially, or just have a OCD habit of counting things in 5s for whatever reason. It's after the top 6 that there's a clear line of disparity IMO.

That being said, yes, KL is top 6.

Alrite guys, I've been thinking about it. I want to do special events but don't have any planned yet (for KiT 15 - the tournament I run)

Probably don't have enough time to run an entire separate Low Tier tournament, but I want to do an invitational.

Eight players - each assigned to a different character. 3/5 Single Elimination. Bracket created randomly. All streamed.

A player selected for each of the following characters:
Jade
Sindel
Stryker
Cyber Sub Zero
Kano
Nightwolf
Sheeva
Baraka

Players who already main one of those characters preferred. In the absence of Low Tier mainers I would need someone (top level player) to step up and learn the character.

I would only really do it if I got commitment from the eight players to be in game shape for the tournament. It's a Shit Tier tournament but I won't put Shit Tier gameplay on stream.

Just want to point out that Lao can spin any string with a 6f gap. I spin Raiden's strings all the time and Quan chi's that starts with the low

no only a foolish kitana loses to stryker, along with foolish cyrax's
