I didn't watch the match, but I keep hearing that Howard was amazing. Was it some Ochoa(Mexico)/Raïs(Algeria)-level performance or even better?

...Man Argentina have been lucky so far. Yeah Messi is amazing, but I fear that next game they're most likely out.
Their next opponent is Belgium and from the others top 8 I think this will be one of the less hard, but I get you Argentina isn't playing good enough from what I expected.

I'm pretty sure you could make a Tim Howard Montage just from this game alone. I overheard one of the commentators say that he broke a record for the amount of saves he did today, but can't recall exactly what it was.
Most saves in one game this world cup. Was 15 when he said that but that was in regular time IIRC.

It was the best performance of any goalkeeper this cup IMO.

Granted he did let two in but he had no chance on either. And if you consider the fact that he had about 20 saves before those 2 went in it seems to make it that much better.

Age caught up with him on the Lukaku goal IMO. Neuer or Ochoa would've managed to get something on it.

Nonetheless, what a way to bow out of his last World Cup, on top of surviving the group of death. (IIRC he'll be 40 by the next one and almost certainly retired by then.)

Also: Dear Americans, meet the REAL football.
Even though I was one of the first to warn about sleeping on Belgium, isn't this more fitting for Belgium themselves considering their next match? :DOGE

With the way Belgium played today compared to Argentina, it's safe to predict a score of 2 to 1 against Argentina. Their defense and mid field are easy to get through once they get figured out. A single goal from Messi isn't going to cut it this time. Ugh I'm nervous for this matchup.

Fun fact: this is the first time since the 32-team format was introduced that every group winner won their round of 16 match. It nearly happened at the 2010 World Cup, naturally, the only group winner to choke there was USA. :16Bit

USA defense is incredibly bad so it's the offense. Tim howard is the only person who puts in work. One guy doesn't make a team. Honestly Howard deserves to play for a better national team
