What if the stance switch button was changed to change variations on the go?

The stance switch button is not going anywhere.

They don't want you switching variations mid game, they want some risk/reward for choosing a variation. They don't want everyone to just be a super character who can do anything at all times, that's why each variation is it's own niche.

1) Characters would be broken OP able to change match ups on the fly.
2) It'd fuck up casuals mashing buttons.
3) Costumes are already designed per variation.
4) They already explained how it works. Why would they change such a fundamental part of the game mid-development.

I don't like that you cannot choose a costume. You should be able to choose your own costume and preview them on select screen.

Why do you assume you can't change costumes?
Variations only alter costumes in a very small way, each costume will have it's own slight variation to match.

It's just a byproduct of how they animate their characters, and the fact they don't mirror them when they switch sides.

Even if they remove the button, the characters will still switch positions after certain moves and animations.
