MKX zoning speculation

Seen from the gameplay, movement in this game is going to be crazy fast, especially with the amount of escaping interactables and run option. It's not really certain how dominant running will be, but it's certain it covers a lot of space in very short time. So I think zoning will or even has to be ridiculous in this game. What are your thoughts? Anyone but m2dave excited about this?

MK X seems to be a lil more strategic than MK9, ppl wanted more out of MK so we got this. ppl gonna have to Adapt, that how it is in every game.

Seems like all of the characters revealed so far have a zoning variation. Wonder if that will be consistent with the rest of the cast...

OF COURSE there will still be zoning. It just won't be braindead like @General M2Dave wants it to be.

In SF4, Ryu and Sagat could zone out a good number of matchups, but that's if theyre played well. They could easily suck if you expect to just backdash forever and chuck projectiles while setting up full screen 100% safe combos (sf4 wouldn't make such a crazy character design in the first place).

They take a bit more thought to be a good zoner with because of how the movement and character design is in the game and I'm sure MKX is trying to take a similar approach.

Its been two games in a row that NRS have the most dominating characters being the most defensive characters. I respect that they have made steps to prevent it another time while still having those said characters viable.

Not having a strong zoning character(s) would make this game boring if you had just all great rushdown.

I think every character should have a zoning variation whether it's good or not.

I hate zoning. No more zoning please. This isn't a FPS, it's a fighting game. Don't bully me. Please respect my opinion. Thanks.
You hate projectiles. But even with zero projectiles people would still find a way to keep you out and make you rage. With pokes, anti-airs, specials and just movement.

Zoning essentially means controlling space. Technically, every character zones, just different spaces on the screen. Rushdown controls pointblank space. Footsie characters control jump and sweep range space. And zoners control far to full screen space.

A player with strong fundamentals and footsie knowledge will feel like a greater wall to you than simple projectile spamming.

Or maybe it's just going to be supplementary/setup thing with more "spacing" than "zoning"?

No.

The average scrub is a rush down fool.
Average scrub trying to play rushdown looks like random masher anyway, so...
Or maybe what I've seen counts as below average noob, I dunno :p

That said, I welcome diversity of playstyles. Heck, we've already seen characters with fullscreen reach on more than one move, we are getting zoning, don't worry.
