Who wants to see all new characters?

I'd like some of the old characters to return so that they can be done justice in next gen technology. Really, NRS can make any character interesting if they want to, doesn't have to be a new character, could even be someone from the 3d MKs *dun dun dunnn* I mean even Scorpion looks bad ass, something which hadn't been achieved since MK3.

I love the new characters, but I need them to add some old faces too. MK9 characters should be like.. 7-8, the rest should be from future games.

He said MK9 Roster size, which is like 26-30. Since there's more new characters then ever before, that mean 12-14 new ones. So that leaves about 14-18 Old characters.

I want to see one cyborg with variations for Cyrax and Sektor. I'd also like to see a Shokan and I'd really like them to figure out a way to make a playable Centaur.

I don't actually play these games
We won't see all new characters. Scorpion and Sub are already in. :DOGE

I would like to see a lot of new characters. However getting rid of all your old characters is generally pretty bad. I can't really think of any game that did this without reverting it in future games. I'd say 60% New 40% old at most, maybe even 70-30. Preferably 50-50 or 40-60.

Especially in MK. Sure, characters have been there for a while, but they're play styles have been all over the place. When people complain about Ryu at least they have a point because he's had a consistent playstyle over each of the games. Whereas when you complain about smoke, only things that stayed the same(actually even this is pretty debatable) is visual appearance. There's nothing stopping them from overhauling move wise the older characters like Ermac/Noob yadayada again for this game which I kinda hope they do because I felt a lot of MK characters had incomplete move sets and while the ideas were there wasn't executed as well as they could be which I hope they can flesh out in MKX.

I might have been hesitant had I not seen the current new characters. MK doesn't exactly have a history of wonderful character design, and I really feel that 4 and the DA era had some pretty awful characters. They really impressed me with 3 of the 4 new comers(cassie is....safe. Not bad, just boring) by having clean, consistent, and creative ideas on them. If they can keep the quality up, I'm going to be more than happy to see the rest.
I have to strongly disagree. Tanya, Reiko, tai, fujin were amazing characters. Then you got characters like frost, kenshi, Serena that were really good also.

Nah, he's pretty much looked "bad ass" every game. He is Ed Boon's golden character after-all.

I want new characters... But it's not an MK game if there are not classic characters as well... Since Boon said this will be the MK game with the most new characters i guess we will probably see 12 new characters and 12 returning ones...

Since I'm assuming the game will follow the story of the 3d games I'm all for new characters, since most of the 3d ones sucked big time(few exceptions). Obviously the first 3 MKs introduced awesome characters so I'm hoping to see most if not half of the cast return.

Mmh. Let's consider two things.

- A lot of characters died in MK9. I doubt they'd all be ressurrected (it's not impossible, but it's kind of a cheap plot device.)

- Game's set, what? 25 years in the future? Many of the returning characters would have aged considerably (except the non-humans.)

I don't mind a few returning characters, but I hope the ratio is something like 70% new chars, 30% classic chars.

(And believe me, guys.... before I saw the first gameplay videos of MK10, if someone would have asked me "would you like a MK with a lot of new characters?" my answer would have immediately been "HELL NO".)

Sub is in I dont care about any of the older ones really, and I absolutely love the new designs so I'm really really excited.

I want to see ALOT of new characters. Ideally, a 50/50 blend with each game. Old ones are needed to relate the current story events back to previous plots, or else there really can't be a cohesive narrative.

I guess it's a bit safer for me to say that, given one of my favorite MK characters is Sub Zero, who basically has a guaranteed spot in the roster of every MK game, because without him. I mean, Ed Boon needs him for the Sub-Zero-Murder-Porn that is every MK trailer ever. So he's always going to be in even if the game is half entirely-new characters.

But people who like characters such as Noob, Smoke, Ermac etc are going to want to see more older characters than new ones because they want plenty of spots open for their favorite to potentially be in.

Still looking at the new characters shown I really can't wait to see other new ones if not reimagining ones of old.

What's the point of a random Krypt?
I don't like the bug lady, but my main concern about her is that she doesn't fit in MK, she looks like a Mass Effect character, and while Ferra/Torr look really fun and interesting I don't get the feeling of them as MK chars, even Kotal Khan seems off place. It's not that I don't like them, they just make the game feel so different. The MK team had already made a bet for new characters and it went wrong back in MK4, in MKDA and in MKD. Some of those characters are good, but excepting Kenshi and Havik none of them were great, they all need a lot of work. I'm afraid that will happen again.

i think 50/50 or close to it would keep most people happy. i think even then it would be too many new characters. i would prefer 60/40 returning characters.

If Scorpion and Sub-Zero were the only returning characters, I wouldn't mind one bit. But, as already said, there are going to be more returning characters.

My ideal roster would be Sub-zero and Scorpion, and everyone else new.
But I will settle for 50/50 which sounds like what they are aiming for, since there are currently 24 slots, and we are getting at least 12 new characters.
