A while back, I heard from people that Freddy was going to be the last DLC, due to the previous DLC's not selling as well as expected. Can anyone confirm if this true? I was hoping they would release more - balancing issues aside, the new fighters are a welcome addition to the game.

At the end of the Gamespot-interview with Ed Boon, he says they only planned these 4 DLC-characters.
But after seeing the data and statistics on how many purchased the current DLC-characters, maybe they'll make more DLC-characters in the future.

As Ed Boon puts it, "If there is OVERWHELMING demand, We MIGHT entertain the idea".

If it ends with Freddy, ie Freddy will be the final DLC; it would be very disappointing.

We will just have to be vocal on twitter that the customerbase wants more DLC-characters and preferably MK-Kombatants over gimmicks/guest-characters for purchase, and that there is huge interest and profit made of this. The more the better.

One of the things that has been very good for NRS was the regular DLC/patching going on. It might not be in their best interest to stop. I can understand the money thing however and would not be overly angry if they did.

What I think they should do is release more alt kostumes that we could purchase for a buck or two, background stages for the same price, and possibly more kombatants. I'm not sure how many more kombatants they could release however since in keeping with the theme they probably would not want to introduce anyone from after UMK3. I was not able to play any version of MK3 as much as I would have liked so the roster is not as familliar to me.

I definitely feel that they should continue with the patches at the very least until an MK10 release. I think it would be epic fanservice if they continued patching MK9 even after that if they are serious about MK being tournament-worthy.

@NinjaBoy66 ohhh that means there is more mk9 content? ;) @MK_XTRA negative. I'm done with MK9 videos. This is Arkade kollection. i think they're going to start focusing on the arcade collection for a lil bit and then start focusing on mk9

After that I want their focus to be on UMK9 which hopefully adds a lot more of what the fans want functionality wise along with 8-10 new characters.

it would be bs? for real? tekken 6 didnt have any dlc and made it 2 years and people are still playing it. is dlc that important? will you not play the game without constant dlc? i would much rather they take their time working on mk10 and making sure it works online and its not as buggy as mk9.
to be honest, i really don't want another season of dlc characters anyway. i fear jason will be in the game if there is another season of dlc characters.

I just want more MK3 skins... Unmasked Sub is easily the best skin in the game very close to MK3 Sektor and Cyrax..

@divoks The chances are slim for more DLC but those decision are made "about 10 steps above my pay grade".

Uh, yeah, no I'd rather have the bugs in MK9 worked out before they start on UMK9. We don't want MK9 to go the route of MvC now do we? You know, a new game announced every 5 months after release?

Boon has officially stated that there are no more plans for DLC. Despite how they sold and the fan response, they have decided to not make any more. He said he'd still keep it up to date with patches and what-not, but all we're getting is what we have. It's a damn shame. I would much rather have them focus on more DLC than say another Mortal Kombat already. It's waaaay too early for another one.
