Do Vortex Characters need Their vortex?

I wanted to start a discussion its starting to get boring.


Let's look at them:
+why they need them
- why they dont
REMEBER THESE ARE NOT MY OPINIONS THESE ARE STATEMENTS MADE BY THE COMMUNITY

Killer frost
The first character who made people hate vortexes in this game. She's been nerfed since.
+ its meter dependent and requires execution to get max damage.
- she has other good tools and a reset.
- her 50/50 is safe

Batgirl
The most hated vortex in injustice.
+ she has a bad neutral game.
- her 50/50 is "safe"
- her corner damage is ridiculous off a vortex.
- its meterless

Sinestro
Why the f*** does a Zoner have a vortex
+ it makes his bad MUs more winnable
- he's a Zoner
- the over head ends in + frames
- its meter less
- with trait he gets more meterless damage

Zatanna
A very underrated vortex characters that has many ways to reset you.
+ its heavily meter dependent
+ she a bill and needs to gimmick her wins
+ her damage is just OK
- since no one really complains about her idk. So please inform me

Wonder Woman
Though its not a true vortex the mix ups and the risk reward that follow it are good enough
+ its easy to get out of it
- 40% meterless damage
- absolutely no risk


Scorpion.
He actually does need it
+low damage
+ very meter dependent
+ super unsafe

Then there are other characters that have a vortexes like:( but these are not really talked about or are situational)
Raven, flash, lex, batman, Harley, cyrbog, superman, and more

REMEMBER I AM JUST GOING BY WHAT I SEE ON THE FORUMS

As said in the title "do they need their vortexes? I want y'all opinion.

I feel like the 50-50s are almost just soooooooo part of most of those characters' games that I would opt on the side that they need them. If there is one outlier I think it is Wonder Woman. She would still be a really strong character without that BS off her dive punch.

Every character that people say are viable outside of Mr. Aquaman all have a situation where they can put you into a guess that HIGHLY rewards the offense.

The "weaker" characters do not have said things.

AUS FGC represent!
Does MMH need his +on block orbs and safe OH tele?
Does AM need his trait and stupid MB chip?
Does Flash need his 60%+ combo damage?
Does Zod need free interactables with trait?
Does Bane need level 3 damage reduction and stupid armour?

In any case at least, KF doesn't need her vortex because when mastered she should be getting 70%+ off her vortex starters for 2 bars.

Zatanna's vortex is arguably the worst in the game. She's got so many ways to reset you and each setup has to be blocked differently.

You can't make pure rushdown viable in Injustice without some kind of vortex or similar BS.

This is because of pushblock, no comeback mechanic and the no round system which all favor zoners. Vortexes are the only way to balance this game.

Am I the only one who will assert that Killer Frost wouldn't be nearly as strong without her vortex? Batgirl doesn't need it and sinestro doesn't need it but I feel like KF and Scorpion definitely do.

midscreen vortex is unsafe, corner vortex is advantage and gives good damage.
true about the meter though.
midscreen i go without the vortex alot and just use MB hellfire otgs but in the corner i could not go without it lol

edit: and some chars cant punish or have very weak punishes vs scorpions midscreen vortex. eg. i give no fucks if bane blocks my vortex midscreen

Exactly. What would be scary about KF without her meter dependent vortex? Also, it is quite execution heavy to get the full potential vortex experience.

Batgirl and WoWo can take a seat…

Because they're really bad characters. Finally people are getting what I said several months ago

You do realise she has an inescapable reset right?

I don't see how you could think KF would be bad without her vortex but BG "doesn't need it". Without vortex; BG's meterless damage is meh, her neutral game is weak, her zoning is meh, she can't deal with up close pressure and she becomes just as meter dependent as (if not more than) KF.

Without vortex KF still has; decent oki setups, great meterless damage, great midscreen damage, amazing trait damage, 70%+ inescapable reset, nice corner game, meter dependancy doesn't change, has parry and fast normals to deal with up close pressure and, a strong neutral game with slide, daggers and b1.
