I would initially, "merk" people at Halo 3 and so it stuck with all my online friends calling me Merk. Now that I'm big into the FGC, it has Ben brought over from shooters to violence upon violence The rest is what I support.

i was getting hyped for the release of MK9 and MvC3 and the two characters I wanted to play the most were Johnny Cage and Chris Redfield. I took the last names of both and made it a thing.

Ironically, I ended up playing Sektor/Sub-Zero in MK9 and Taskmaster/Phoenix/whatever assist I felt like in MvC3 lol.

Before Injustice I was a die-hard Pokemon/Smash player but never bothered with tags. And since Red version, I always chose the grass starters in Pokemon. When I was super excited for the release of Black/White and waiting on the English names of the starters to be announced, everyone was calling the grass starter (Snivy) "Smugleaf." I loved that shit, and I hated to see the name die when his name was announced to be Snivy. Soooo, whenever I took on fighting games competitively, I adopted it as my handle.

Have not read through the thread but this is gonna be, by far, the nerdiest one.

Years ago my brother and I started a Youtube channel for AMVs (Anime Music Videos) and named ourselves Competitionbros. When we got banned we started a new channel and shortened it to "Compbros". Once I got into fighters I already had the name on PSN/Xbox so I just went with it (BTW, we have won several awards for AMVs under Compbros and still do it to this day lol).
