TYM needs more Killer Instinct. When MLG picks it up, I want our community to have a big presence there. I am getting more and more hype for KI and am really starting to get my grove and understand the game. That said...I have LOTS to practice if I am ever going to compete. I'm dropping Thunder and focusing 100% on Spinal.

Topics I (and probably the rest of the community) need help on:
1) Manuals...how to time them, what my options are, and how to be consistent. I see people do them but I just don't really know what I am seeing. Some manuals I see linked shouldn't link due to frame data so maybe I just need it explained.
2) Highest damage unbreakable combos. Are there even unbreakable options?
3) Controller options. I play on the xbone pad for spinal and the xbone joystick for Thunder...I have never played on stick but is this game worth doing it for?

everyone should be on there except spinal.

The highest damage unbreakable combos are probably the ones dizzy posted and require instinct.
They really went to every effort to make sure there weren't true unbreakable combos.

Pad/stick doesn't really matter, the game can be played on either. Breaking might be a slightly easier on stick.

This site would probably have more if the game wasn't on XB1 to be honest. I would be playing it, but I just don't have any interest in the system. I think a PC release hopefully not too far down the road would help the game grow a lot more.

FGC needs more KI sadly people are not trying to spend money on buying xb1s just to play an unfinished game with a limited cast. Those of us who play it know that it is more than enough since we got to play with the cast to get the animations down but the DH buy out hurt us bad as far as momentum

I enjoy the game, its awesome.

Just think about it though; it took the US several years behind Japan to institute digital broadcasting signals. . . People dont like change.

Once everyone gets over their fear of next-gen systems I suspect the game will grow.

Ohwell, i'll just keep having fun with it =)

There is a thread with the spinal mannuals on the SRK forums - Im at work so I can't link but that's where I got mine from. Not sure if it was copied and paste from another site but who cares, at least its there.

Arcade stick can be helpful for doing "Manuals". You can double tab the buttons making your manuals easier to come out. Vesper Arcade has great tutorials on his Youtube channel about the combo system and much more.

Ill explain manuals.

After doing an opener or linker, a manual is still technically a cancel. All manuals have +5 cancel advantage. That is why if you are just looking at hit advantage in frame data, you will be confused.

So for example, Jagos shadow wind kick has +5 hit advantage, yet you can fairly easily manual cancel any of his normals due to the extra +5 cancel advantage making it an effective +10 for linking a manual.

As far as highest dmg unbreakables, I made a video for every char using 2 bars and instinct that was on the front page recently. Its still up to date aside from sadira which I found one thats like 10% higher lol.

The big dmg unbreakables require at least 1 bar and instinct. The general formula would be:

Opener, manual (buffer instinct cancel), shadow ender. Replace opener with shadow opener if you have 2 bars

good info. I'll watch the videos people are suggesting but lets get games online soon. I'll be practicing my normals.

check out The New Frontier KI archive, had a good turn out with some pretty high level action.

Also CD Jr advanced the meta 10x with Shadow Counter abuse.

Can someone explain to me how to do a manual? If you hit something after an opener, don't you just get an auto double instead?

Shoot them. Shoot them all.
The biggest problem with KI, imo, is simply how it was released. So many of us would be playing it if it weren't exclusive to one system. Also, releasing a character every 3 months or so is an absolutely foolish way to handle a fighting game (business wise). We live in a generation where no one wants to wait for anything...much less for a game to be complete.

With that said, the game looks crisp and fresh. I bet the game will pick up steam in a year or so.

Will watching the archive make it painfully obvious what you're talking about here?

Or has he just gotten to the point where he shadow counters everything pretty much?

I see this as the KI paradox. We are pretty much living in the mobile development environment with the "If you aren't embarrassed by your first release, you waited to long" philosophy. However KI has been sitting on the shelf for almost 20 years so I am glad it is at least breathing.

It's a delayed input. You basically just frame your next attack out of the auto double window after an opener. They are still in hitstun so they get hit by the single hitting manual. Something like that.
