Yeah I agree. KTP manages to do the balancing act that DMS talked about successfully while retaining broad appeal because of the "random nerd talk". That's the only thing I'd disagree with from Tom's well articulated / valid points is that the "Stop all the podcasts" isn't the answer. Or rather, it's not the podcast but the content of the podcast that makes the difference.I really don't think this applies to KTP. The hosts make it very clear that while they get serious from time to time, the show overall is in jest.
the man is talking about turning over a new leaf and you bring up old shit. this is the problem with TYM.
that is so old its just nostalgia for most of us , plus a lot of people mentioned that video right after seeing brady cast dont take it to heart man we just really. like . tomthe man is talking about turning over a new leaf and you bring up old shit. this is the problem with TYM.
BUT.... You cant compare college to gaming because this is supposed to be the highest level. In pro sports the NFL does have weekly power rankings but there is only little stock put in that. In pro sports they also dont give reasons why winning a championship doesnt count or call a top 5 team frauds because they lost this week. However, this is exactly what we do.Tom, all of these things you talk about are a part of spectator sports. You should understand this more than most being an athlete. Take college football for example. There is a ranking system that comes out....BEFORE THE SEASON EVEN STARTS!!! Every week, fans and sportscasters spend hours analyzing who is better than who, who should be higher on the ranking list, who performed well this week, who didn't perform well this week, and guess what....it all changes the next week. By your logic, we should never have a ranking list in college football, and we should wait until the end of the season before analyzing or having an opinion. There is entire tv shows, tv networks even, dedicated to analyzing the players.....why? Because it is entertainment to the spectator. Why do you think people like to fill out college basketball brackets? Play fantasy football? It is not meant to disrespect anybody. It is for fun and entertainment, and that is good for any sport. If nobody cared who was top, who was the best with which character, which character beats which characters, who was hot this week, who was not....if nobody cared about that stuff....I'd be concerned about the state of the game.
The top players are going through the same thing that any pro athlete goes through. Fighting games are streamed and they are open to the same level of analysis and opinion that any other spectator sport is. That is just the way it is, and the way it will continue to be. I don't see any point in fighting against that. Let the community enjoy the sport.
Correct, he also placed top 8 at KIT. My mistake.ppj has placed top 8 in two majors
PPJ also has NEVER BEEN SEEDED AS A #1 player such as FR Pools
NEC Champion, Frosty Faustings Top 8, KIT Top 8, always in a stacked pool.Correct, he also placed top 8 at KIT. My mistake.
FF wasnt a major though, I was just listing majors. IMO regionals should carry more weight, ppl seem to dismiss them like its a weekly local tourney.NEC Champion, Frosty Faustings Top 8, KIT Top 8, always in a stacked pool.
It is...I like knowing who the best is, and tournament results are the best indicator.
I think it is possible to objectively compare players without slamming them or making the game/scene look bad.
lmao.how have I never seen this? This is on a whole new level of enjoyment.
Again... I PROMISE you that this place does not know how to do that yet. This will lead back into "harmless jokes" which will again become the perception and then once again the reality. If there are podcasts, it should stay 100% on the game.Instead of stopping the podcasts, people should just review top 32 matches, and basically analyze the matches and give people advice on what they could do better next time. As long as it's constructive criticism, I don't think most people would mind
Impossible atm because we dont have set in stone seedings. Top players get seeded per pool, the problem is that sometimes you have too many top players in one pool and none/almost none in others which really screws up the results. Can we like demand accurate seedings? I'm a tad uneducated on the subject of how it would work at tournaments but it only seems fair that major tournament success should be taken in account for upcoming tournaments.
So you came in hear to start a riot of "this is bullshit, it wont happen"? You think that helps?PPJ seems like a cool enough dude to just keep swagging and he'll find success in the upcoming future, you made a good analogy comparing this game to baseball batting. But....
After blaming the entire TYM community for being replaced with REO and trashing them on live stream for 15 minutes then ending FR17 with a hardcore blow up on Wound Cowboy, everything is okay because you did this Dr. Phil like podcast?
What makes that acceptable behavior for the tournaments and live streams into the future?
There may be no one on this site who dislikes Cowboy more than I do, but he didn't deserve to be blown up and embarrassed like that on live stream and especially after the grand final match between Sonic and Bit. Instead of giving post-commentary on the last match of FR17 and ending it on that, you HAD to end it with something personal which is selfish as hell....it really showed Tom Brady only cares about Tom Brady. How dare you call yourself a good commentator and believe blowing someone up after a grand final is acceptable.
The same thing happen on Friday when everyone was enjoying the stream and out of no where Tom goes on a tirade on the "community" for making him look bad which had to lead him being replaced with REO.
I didn't hear any apologies or mentions of this in the podcast, so I know it's full of shit. It's a "new leaf" but what guarantees that you have changed and you won't do this kind of nonsense again?
The drama is exciting for like 5 minutes, but I believe most people come to the streams to watch matches, not hear you cry about how you feel about a certain player or a community of viewers you've admitted you don't give a damn about, think they're dumbasses who don't know anything about the game.
If you want change, it has to start with you. Like you said, you're one of the faces of the community. If you're going to trash and blow up people on live stream every chance you get on, expect a lot of people to follow your behavior and we'll be enjoying ourselves a hostile community.
Sorry Tom but with all your hypocracy, your words don't mean anything. I agree with TheBoyBlunder's statement until proven otherwise. The only way you can prove everyone wrong and this "New Leaf" thing to be legit is by your ACTIONS. And so all I have to say about this "New Tom" is.....wait and see. But if you truly do mean what you say (and back it up in time) then I respect that.So you came in hear to start a riot of "this is bullshit, it wont happen"? You think that helps?
This is 100% serious. Try helping by looking forward.
Its not just me, if it were only me then this wouldnt work. Its all of us that have contributed to it realizing just how dumb it was. We are ALL putting an end to it.Sorry Tom but with all your hypocracy, your words don't mean anything. I agree with TheBoyBlunder's statement until proven otherwise. The only way you can prove everyone wrong and this "New Leaf" thing to be legit is by your ACTIONS. And so all I have to say about this "New Tom" is.....wait and see. I'd be more than happy to make a ranking system for tournaments to use as a reference for seeding. I would need to players to help me make it on skype but i think it would be a good way to start off.Impossible atm because we dont have set in stone seedings. Top players get seeded per pool, the problem is that sometimes you have too many top players in one pool and none/almost none in others which really screws up the results.
