Best Controller for Xbox 360

TheGabStandard

The anticipation is killing me
Hey guys,

Since the 360 pad is pretty rubbish to put it kindly I am looking to purchase another controller to play fighters with. I came across this one, the MadCatz Pro Controller.

I wanted to know if anyone has used this before and if so, is it a good controller to use for fighters? If not, are there any other controllers that can be recmmended to buy? I know a lot of people will suggest I should use a stick and I did try using one for about three months, but I just prefer pad.

Many thanks for your help.

I only play on ps3 and if I wanted to attend a tournament there are normally used on xbox correct? I am curious to know what 360 pad to play with as well bc I tried a converter in the past and those just aren't made for fighters imo.

Get a dual-modded pad if you want something lag-less. It is expensive though (like 140 ish)

Dammit this kind of talk makes me itchy to buy that Razer Sabretooth I saw today... It's too expensive though ;___;
I play on PC myself and on PS3 against my friends offline so I use a PS2 pad with a PS3 conveter.

Isn't that the same as the SF4 pad? Might be wrong.

Just had a quick look and it does look good. Will read into it.

Mainly Injustice, but I do play MK9, SF4 and Soul Calibur on a casual basis.
for mk9 and injustice I use a ps2 pad with etokki convertor.ive tried various other things but imo ps2 pad is the best.
sf4 is a tricky one,not a particularly pad friendly game imo,I currently use a really old ps2 pad,the dpad being all fucked up makes it easier to get the shoryuken motion lol.

The SFIV, SFxT, and Brawlpads are all actually slightly different. The Brawlpad is the largest and my favorite of the three.

It's also the only that hasn't broken yet for me, though I'm not sure the manufacturer is any more to blame for that than the occasional rage of 1,000 angry gods that I unleash.

How's the Etokki convertor? Does it lag at all? I am thinking of ordering one online so I won't be able to try it before I buy it so I want to know how good it is.
I read that it's the best PS2-X360 convertor out there, but is it like perfect?

Awesome. I play on PC at home and on PS3 when playing offline against @Frostbarrier who is the only guy beside me to play MK9/Injustice in the whole city lol. But we met some guys from another city who play MK9 regularly but on Xbox360, so when we tried playing with them someone has got to sacrifice and start using the pad of the other console, and so it turns into a herp derp contest.
Getting the Ettoki so that I can body them fuh-ree on their own console. Hellz to the yeah.

Honestly? Get the 360 transforming pad. I've used one myself and it's really good. No problems what so ever. Then theres the PDP glowing pad which I've heard nothing but great things about. I mainly use a PS2 pad with a converter but I can switch on the fly if I need to use a 360 pad.

Remember though, this is all just preference. In the end, it's whatever your hands feel the most comfortable with. There are top players who use all kinds of pads but again, it's what they are used to.

Another question, can you turn off the analog sticks on the pad when using the converter? I read that the analog button will act as the Xbox guide button. Does that mean that the analog sticks are on all the time?

etokki doesn't make them anymore though so the prices might be high.. I was thinking of getting this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CZ7NCAQ/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1CSCZ8CRWX2GH

Someone here recommended it and it's cheaper with the same functionality from the looks of it.

The reviewers say it's lag-free, which is awesome. On Etokki's website they sell the converter for $26.95 so the one you mentioned is cheaper.
I still want to know if you can turn off the analog sticks though. The left stick on my PS2 pad is tilted so it's like you are pressing left all the time. I couldn't fix it because the pad is old and the screws are worn out so I couldn't open it and I don't want to take out the sticks completely because I am planning on playing other games using the sticks.

I highly recommend trying out a Hitbox. The amount of control you have just absolutely trumps anything else I've used. http://www.hitboxarcade.com/

I should probably add that before Hitbox, I'd always been a pad user, and was never able to get used to a stick. If you absolutely want to use a pad, I recommend the SSFIV Fight Pad (https://www.google.com/#q=ssfiv+fightpad&tbm=shop). Best pad I ever used, though I tried the SFXT pad and it was not as good, so they might not make them as well as they used to.

i've been looking at these too. Anybody know anything?
Not much other than they seem to work/look like a hitpad.. Also, people seem to like them.

But when you're switching from an Xbox pad to anything else, anything kan seem like a godsend.

That's what I'm thinking, having a pad that's accurate doesn't suck would be amazing, I think I'll pick this up soon just because I'm poor :p Hopefully it's as good as everyone says

I have been using a 360 pad with the evil dpad since MK9. Inputs are very crisp and work exactly like I expected them to. The only issue I have come across is that for some reason the left analog stick doesn't sit quit right anymore. It seems to have too much play up and down making it tricky to use for anything. But if you have an extra controller to dedicate solely to fighting games and using dpad instead of analog stick it is awesome.

(one other thing to note is that the direction buttons have a decent amount of space in between them, around 1/4 of an inch, which may make diagonal inputs difficult for some)

This is good info, @Red Reaper in case you don't see it I'll tag you. My thumbs are pretty big so I don't think extra space is an issue, and I've got a few extra controllers laying around. Gonna pull the trigger, thanks man!
