Supposed "Top of the line monitors"@ FR17

Could the monitor lag be why I feel MK is sluggish when I play on PS3? I am used to playing it on my laptop. Could it be that my laptop screen has a much smaller input lag so when I play on PS3 the regular TVs cause me to drop my inputs?
I always thought it might be the ps2-ps3 converter but when @Frostbarrier uses my pad he doesn't feel any lag (he plays on PS3 not PC)...
There will definitely be an input lag difference there, but I couldn't tell you which is better or worse with any confidence

Hmm it's weird because I always thought it was the converter until I started hearing about the monitor lag. I tried the game on 3 different laptops and they were all the same but when I play on PS3 I always feel this lag and I need to change the timing in my combos.
I did a quick search and I found that there are some tests I can do to see how much lag I have on my laptop screen. Gonna try those.

But hold on a sec, if my laptop screen actually turns out to be great and lagless like those monitors in tourneys, does it mean that when I go to tournaments I am going to get top 8 EZ? :DOGE

Jokes aside it's dependent upon your delta T between monitors, The bigger the input lag difference is, the harder a time you're going to have. 1-3ms, not so big a deal, easy to adjust to if you can even feel that at all.

Yeah I guess the delta T between the 3 laptop screens that I used were that small. But I can tell 100% that it is significant between the TV and the laptop screens, there's at least a couple of frames difference so we are talking about 30-35 ms.
I am going to get @Frostbarrier to my come to my house and try playing on my laptop using his PS3 pad. If he feels any difference then it's the screen, if he doesn't then it is my ps2-ps3 converter.

i was so emo , freakin out tryin to do the simplest combos lol

There is something called input lag. Most hdtvs have a lot of input lag which it looks like ur used to. Asus 236h monitors (among others) have no/minimal input lag. If u want to be a tournament player get an Asus man. We all learned the hard way.

If I were you, I would blame NRS, and any other fighter studio for making any move with the Up button. When you're in tournament, Up+normal is the easiest thing to screw up. Ask any Quan Chi player about Skydrop into Up+3. Watch Khaotik do jump+3 over and over in his Frost vs Aquaman match at Winter Brawl. It's not the monitors. It's your own physical timing under pressure combined with a stupid design.

PS3 does have natural lag, yes. It's infuriating playing MK9 at tournaments on PS3 as a 360/PC player, because the ps3 flat out sucks balls at playing MK9
I have always been a PS fan over Xbox, but damn. Playing on PC has opened my eyes quite widely.

That monitor has 6ms response time, not input lag. They are very different. Do you have documentation on what the input lag of that monitor is tested to be, if it exists at all?
Seriously? You gonna try to argue tech with ME of all people?

I have this monitor and 3 evo monitors. I also have bodnar tester so I can actually test these monitors myself.

I'm not trying to argue, I'm just asking for documentation on what the input lag actually is. No hostility. Since you have Bodnar tester, can you run a test on the monitor you linked as proof? Or point me to a source that gives the input lag? I'd like to buy this monitor based on your recommendation, but do not feel comfortable doing so until I have proof of the input lag other than just your word (which I am not implying is fallacious)

I don't actually have the EA234wmi... I have the EA231wmi; which is version 1. This one is version 4. Version 1 does not have an HDMI input (I use DVI), but Version 4 does. Besides that, they are the same monitor and I have tested it myself. Which is where I got the numbers from.
