So although some things were controversial this weekend, the end result of FR 17 was that we got to see an unprecedented level of talent come together to make an absolutely stellar weekend of Injustice matches. From Scraps, to the team tournament, to singles and through Top 8 (and the FT5's as well), everything was totally unpredictable and a complete blast to watch.

It was great to see so many people come out and support their scenes, and also to see players hang out and get to know each other who hadn't met before. In every game there are 'watershed tournaments' that help mark turning points in the history of the game, and I think that without a doubt, this will be remembered as a bellwether event for IGAU.

I want to hand some brief shoutouts to the following people:

@Orochi -- You looked great in this tournament. Your match with Pig was one of the highlights of the event, and the way you played the MU gives me a lot of ideas for the future. It was great to see you play again, and congrats on making it pretty far in a difficult bracket.

@flipkev -- Thank you for keeping a cool head in between your explosive moments and helping to tie everything together. A lot of times when there's no consistent presence at the broadcaster table, these events can feel like patchwork from a stream viewer's perspective; but you were the glue this weekend. Also, like we talked about last night, you really surprised and impressed me with the level-up you've made in such a short amount of time. So kudos, and looking forward to seeing more of your Zod in the future.

@KDZ -- That Wonder Woman. I'd like to think that you succumbing to Nightwing's stick at FR is retribution for what you did to your own stick at the break ;) But it was great to see you in the team tournament, and you had a fantastic set with Forever King. Hopefully you're appropriately angry now and will trait up and barge through your next tournament in style.

@Frantastic23 -- Love your spirit as always man; always good to catch up. You and Arma are both cool people and it's always fun to get your take on what's happening "at the scene".

@SonicFox5000 -- I've always said that when you have haters, you must be doing something right. No one can argue with your tournament resume at this point, and you keep getting better with each month that goes by. Even though I think both of your IGAU characters are broken (Doge), your talent is immense and you deserve everything you've accomplished. Best wishes and looking forward to seeing what your future holds.

@GGA 16 Bit -- It goes without saying, but good grief. You've made this game your own, and it's really cool to see that after you went through some difficult times to get there. You've pretty much given everything you have for IGAU and your team, and it's cool to see that come back to you in the form of success. Meow.

@AK Trepound380 -- You majorly represented this weekend sir. You put some A-list threats out of commission, and hopefully people will stop sleeping on you from here on out. Props for hanging in there and toughing it out through everything.. I'm sure plenty more good things are around the corner from here.

@AK/RM GamerBlake -- I know you won't accept my props but I'm giving them anyway; you looked great in both MK and IGAU and you really played your butt off this weekend. I always root for you and I see your Batman becoming a serious force to be reckoned with (Your articles are still free, though :p)

@Kitana Prime -- I know it sounds weird to say it, but you are becoming a darling of the community in a way. It's not so much about your placings in the tournament, as it is about your attitude, the kind of person you are and the energy you bring. You have that underdog spirit and I think it's going to put you on top sooner or later. Everyone roots for you to win now and your cool, positive vibe adds to each event in multiple ways. Also, that match with PL was superb. Props.

@Emperor DMS -- Thanks for being willing to step up. This community needs leadership to survive, and you get props for not being afraid to jump in and help fill the gaps. FlipKev stepped his game up though -- so you've got to become Omega Superman by your next event. The stream can never have enough Divebombs.

@AK L0rdoftheFLY -- Holy cow dude. Mission accomplished. If you retired now, I don't think anyone could blame you. But unfortunately, by community rules this means Nightwing is Top Tier :D

To everyone who played or participated, thanks for making this one of the most memorable events in this community's history, and the most exciting and talent-rich IGAU tournament I've ever seen. Seems like things are only getting better; it's been an awesome year.

Orochi's play was one of the most impressive parts about the tournament I think.

Really impressive stuff, and I'm glad him and DJT are playing GL. They play so well and make GL look so damn strong.

Also when PL quit, and Brady goes, "What is he doing?" and Flipkev goes, "HE'S LOSING THE GAME TOM, THAT'S WHAT HE'S DOING!" I was pretty sure I was gonna die laughing.

Kev becoming progressively more agitated/distressed as the match was falling apart has to be one of the funniest moments of the entire weekend.

@FOREVER KING and @DarthArma -- In every game's lifetime there are some sets that seem to take the gameplay up to another level. Tyrant vs. CD Jr. was one of those for MK9, and I had a similar feeling watching you guys go blow-for-blow in the FT5. That was as close a set as it could possibly be, and you guys were putting out all the stops. Arma, you have the worst luck with natural hazards (fires and falling trees), but I'm sure if you connect with Smokey the Bear before your next event it'll all even out. Props to both of you guys.

@AK Pig Of The Hut -- Thanks for your energy and everything you put into each event. You never fail to bring the hype, and the buildup to FR was excellent as always. Also, thanks for holding these online tournaments to give other people a chance to make it. You always put your heart and passion 100% into everything you do. I have some things I want to discuss with you + others after everyone cools down, and I look forward to connecting with you soon.

@AK Smarrgam -- This was a heck of a weekend for you. You overcame everything that usually keeps you from moving up the tournament ladder. You were extremely solid from day to day and you shook off the Curse of Rain. Hoping you stay humble, stay hungry, and keep leveling up; because this might be the beginning of a whole new chapter for you. I'm super happy to see you validate everything that was predicted for your Black Adam so long ago.

Shoutouts to Atlanta Kombat in general for becoming a model scene. You guys have been incredibly consistent and strong since you picked Injustice up again, and the energy is contagious and infecting other people. Props to Reno for really stepping out there and leading with his actions in addition to his words. And watch out for Home Lee ^^
