What's new

What do you know about it being illegal to drive?!

Have you ever had a level 3 winter emergency before?

Here in Toledo, OH we have a level 3 emergency and its about 7-9 inches of snow outside and still falling.

If you try to drive you can get fined or arrested. What do you know about that?

Edit: For some reason I was imagining like 7 feet of snow lol. That is actually pretty dumb.

That's a level 3 emergency? It's not even a foot of snow lol. Are you going to be snowed in and not be able to make FR? Is that what this is about, good sir?

Only emergency vehicles are allowed on public roads. Any one else is pulled over and ticketed for reckless driving.

At least, that's what my parents say, but I've had to drive in Michigan during them before.

This. Indiana had one of these situations, a couple of months ago. And the local enforcement doesn't mess around with this, either. They WILL pull you over and ticket you.

From Ohio dot gov:

"Snow Emergency Classifications

LEVEL 3: All roadways are closed to non-emergency personnel. No one should be driving during these conditions unless it is absolutely necessary to travel or a personal emergency exists. All employees should contact their employer to see if they should report to work. Those traveling on the roads may subject themselves to arrest."

"Any person who knowingly hampers or fails to obey a lawful order of the sheriff declaring a snow emergency and temporarily closing highways, roads and/or streets within his/her jurisdiction may be subject to criminal prosecution under Ohio Revised Code Section 2917.13, "Misconduct at an emergency" or other applicable law or ordinance. A violation under that section is a misdemeanor of the fourth degree, punishable by a jail sentence not to exceed 30 days and/or a fine not to exceed $250. If the misconduct creates a risk of physical harm to persons or property, it is a misdemeanor of the first degree, punishable by a jail sentence not to exceed 180 days and/or a fine not to exceed $1,000."

I know that here in New York you were fined for driving on the Long Island Expressway during one of the worse storms we had this season. Not fun at all.

Well, it's supposed to be back up to 50 here in the next two days. I guess that's something to look forward to, unless Killer Frost decides to be a dick again.
