Thing is characters with vortexes tend to benefit from a one time breaker type deal making it a pain for other characters. I understand that's just how the game is but it seems a little unfair IMO.
Oh don't get me wrong, with playing Shazam, sometimes I don't have get out of jail free options (yes even with my invincible tele). So any character with a good guessing game can get in a situation where I have to clash and then after it's consumed, get me in another situation where I have to guess where ultimately it's Guess Right and you have another chance, Guess Wrong and it's the match.

I think being able to abuse this aspect of the game's mechanics makes vortex characters that much more powerful. And this is just me, but we're already seeing shades of this with Batgirl and the Flash rising to the top of the tournament rankings. I wouldn't be all too surprised if they end up some of the strongest at the end of the game's life, whenever that will be.

wut mk9 was always hype even with breakers...i don't see how it kills the momentum when clash stops the game for like 5 seconds and resets to neutral position and midscreen. Breakers put the person who broke at advantage and put them up close so that person could reverse the offense.
why do you even bother?

breakers are far better than clashes, it opens a whole new meta game. If your good at b uilding meter u should be rewarded with something like a breaker to prevent heavy damage from characters like superman or Cyrax.

The problem is that some characters are batter at building meter than others. That's basically saying that they should get more breakers than everyone else, despite the fact that in order to build meter in these games you (as in, character, not player) have to be already great with pressuring and zoning (not to mention that good meter building already gives them advantage of more liberate usage of enhanced specials). And there comes the classic formula that whatever benefits weaker ones, benefits stronger ones even more, which only creates issues if you want balanced game.

whatevs, breakers are still better than clashes yo, if ur gonna have vortexes, u need breakers. otherwise remove all vortexes.

they are an equalizer to make up for the damage u took, 1 Clash hardly makes up for it.

It depends on:
- safety/accessibility of vortexes;
- whether or not you imply that clash/breaker is limited to single use or not (and tbh I'm not sure what elements of both systems are being compared ITT);
- other tools of character(s).

Again, addressing basic mech to solve what you see as issues with particular characters may help with those particular characters, but is prone to breaking something elsewhere.

Clashes ! Though I don't mind breaker, I enjoy clash! But its like comparing apples to oranges IMO

not having a breaker and only 1 clash is the kinda thing that makes u wanna give up especially if the other player gets a life lead.

Seeing people playing keepaway until they have breaker to go in and then go back to zoning again once it is spent to rinse and repeat was pretty lame too :p

Stupid shit like Batgirl vortexes would make me less salty if I could break them more often.... not just once.
That's kinda the point, it's a problem of stupid shit of like 3 characters rather than the system overall.

Tbh, if you go with breakers, they'll have to cost 3 bars or you have to make it like MK9 with 3 bars, 2 for breaker. Clash works in either meter system. I like both, though.

how is zatanna worse?
Zatanna's zoning game compared to BG's is far superior IMO and vastly more difficult for a Lobo player to get in. The rings, stars, trance, slow giant fire balls. It's to much to quick and after I've taken a ton of damage AND chip she just teleports away or catches me in a set-up. Against players that know how to use her, she's nigh impossible to even set-up a combo against she's simply to quick.

Yea I wanted to point this out too. The reason MK 50/50s weren't as frustrating as IGAU's is 'cause you an get out of them with smart meter management.

In IGAU, meter just seems to always be there(and they have to, 'cause of how often MB moves are used). While in MK, meter is kind of a privilege.

If only some characters in MK9 built less meter, Breakers would be much more looked upon.
