Ideas for a new main? (Villains Only)

I've been thinking, and as much as I love Lobo and practically played solely him since he was released. I think I need a new main. I'm not dropping the character and not putting off his potential in tourneys as evidenced by Maxter and Oxygen. But maybe he isn't quite right for me, his whole focus is around Oki game and footsies and just when I thought I had him all figured out this recent patch completely changes the way I should play him. I certainly enjoy the character but I'm looking to pick up someone new. I haven't invested any significant amount of time into any other characters as much as I have Lobo and I still am horrible at this game from a competitive standpoint. Any and all suggestions are welcome I need to round out my repertoire of characters if I'm going to compete in a tourney, much less a major like WB or EVO.

For me; I just play who I like as a character. i.e how the character looks, their story etc.. Lobo is my favorite comic-book character. I play Kenshi and Baraka in MK. Fei-Long and Dee Jay in AE (even tho i havnt played the game since release). And Feng-Wei and Yoshimitsu in Tekken.

I'm the same way but I have a desire to compete or to at least be as good as competitive players.

I wouldn't let the tier list dictate your choice, unless its :joker:. I guess it depends on what playstyle meshes well with you. Do you like to get up in people's faces and use imba armor moves? (Bane/Doomsday to some extent..only more honest) Or do you prefer to run away and bombard your opponent with projectiles while avoiding any sort of oki game? (Ares) lol

Lol well Lobo lies some where in the middle of both of those as of this recent patch. But Ares is starting to appeal to me more, mainly because I've traditionally played characters that need to get in to do damage. I'm just experimenting with my options at this point.

if evil is really your thing, go with lex.
You truly feel like an evil master mind when they land in your mines, so satisfying.

I don't think its what your character can and cannot do that is giving you problems. Its probably more likely that you don't understand what your opponents can and cannot do. Learn to play the other characters in the game, so that you lean what their weakness are and see how you can exploit those weakness with Lobo.

THIS!

Batgirls used to give me SUCH a hard time as a Doomsday main and I grew sick of it. So, I decided to pick up Batgirl to do the very same to other people. Well, the plus side to this is that you learn what the character can do and that helps you for when you're facing that character with another one.

Now? Shit. I don't sweat most Batgirl players I come across because I know what I can/cannot do against her. Not to say I'll always beat a Batgirl player, but I won't be anywhere near as free as I was before learning her.

Quite possibly, I may not understand other characters H/L mix-ups or any tech that they might use against me. I mean when it comes the Batman, Superman, I kind of know what to expect. But as far as every other character I don't exactly know every trick in their book.

How about Deathstroke? He's a well rounded character and his combo's are hella fun to land. Or maybe Black Adam? Black Adam was the 2nd character I tried after i learned Doomie he it pretty satisfying to see Black Adam outro at the end of every game and he looks really cool! Bane is also fun. I've been thinking of learning either Lex or Zod as of late or turning to the "Dark-Side" and learning Cyborg Superman.
