Feedback for King of Rebelos event + the possible continuation of pre-major events?

Blue Blurs for Life!
Before anything else, @AK Pig Of The Hut gets all the thanks for setting the King of Rebelos tournament into motion. I have witnessed the proceedings from afar and must confess that I am awed by how the community united to support the ambitions of players aiming to go to tournaments. Now that King of Rebelos is complete, we will be excited to see the winners at next month's Final Round tournament - unless, of course, the winners use their prizes to sponsor another player in their stead, which they have the power to do.

Thanks also go out to you, the viewers and the players, for making these tournaments what they are. I do know Pig is taken aback by your immense enjoyment of the event...so much, in fact, that there is the possibility of continuing these online events to serve as preludes to each upcoming major tournament.

And of course, thanks go to @Mr Aquaman for assisting with a stream for the Xbox 360 tournament while I ran the PS3 version (no, I'm not fishing for props, I do stuff like this all the time).

Now, those seeking to ensure the evolution of their tournaments will obviously need one thing. And what is that, you may ask?

Your feedback.

Tell us, in this thread, what you enjoyed the most about the King of Rebelos tournaments. Explain, in your opinion, what the pros and cons were...and don't just post "it was great!" or something like that and not provide details. We want to know ALL your thoughts. What do you feel needs improvement or toning down? What do you hope to see for the next online event IF this were to become a series?

Bear in mind, whether this becomes a series or not is all up to Mr. Pig himself.

Personally, I have no complaints. This event was ran so smoothly it's a 100% guarantee that the next one is bound to be just as great, if not better. Organization was solid all around. And I for one was honored to stream the PS3 tournament, let alone add in commentary (though I gotta apologize for any mistakes made in it, and I know there were some).

If you're thinking of participating should we decide to do this again, I encourage you all to SIGN UP AND FIGHT YOUR HEART OUT.

I write too much.
This was a great event. The only potential issue I could see with it was that certain events beyond player control can come into play online (Such as Bipolar's connection going down) and led to me getting further in the bracket than what I earned (9th place going 0-2?!) and potentially lag issues (I apologize to those who played me; I don't know why my connection was so bad today).
That said, there's not much that can be done about those things, and besides that everything went pretty well. The tournament was run in a timely fashion, the stream was great, and the concept of these tournaments is amazing; I really hope we can run more of these in the future.

The only thing I could see to make it better would be adding people to a Skype call to have high profile commentators. I know a few well known players were in the stream chat, and assuming having them in the KotH wouldn't cause more lag, couldn't they commentate as well (Quitting and rejoining between matches to keep from having the players to run through multiple people between games)?

First I want to thank everyone that was involved with making this happen.(pig, aqua, ect) Even though I went 0-2 I still enjoyed it. I guess I was expecting to do a little better with all the time I've spent playing, but all in all this is my first fighter game so I'm still a noob to the scene. I feel that my 0-4 (tx bar fights too) tournament record doesn't represent my actual skill in this game and it is quite discouraging to not have a single tournament win. Either way I am really hoping there will be another online tourney soon because I enjoyed playing and watching the stream and i would love to do it again. But I am determined to get a win! This time I'll come ready for a sinestro and bane! The two characters I have the least experience against. wtf I would rather have had a Martian haha

well let me edit that... Not baldings Martian :)

Besides my saltiness, the tournament went really smooth and everyone that organized it did a great job! I will definitely play in the next one. I wish there was an online league.

PROS:

Tournament was smooth.
My opponents were really cool and respectful.
It was fun.
The wired connection makes a diffidence.
Syknis, orchi, and balding are sick. I can't wait to see some more stream from them.

CONS:

None

This was definitely one of the better run online tournaments I have competed in. Everything ran perfectly, I had no real big issues with lag, the matches that I participated on stream had 0 lag and it was perfect. I'm really hoping this catches on, there are a lot of really good online players that do deserve a shot to play offline with the tournament winnings. I've spread the word to some of my regular online friends about this and have had nothing but good things to say, so let's keep this going if possible. Great work everybody!

It was great overall. 10 bucks can get you to a major?..sounds good go me.
Im glad you mentioned continuing these because i was gonna talk to the Northwest Scene about doing one or two of these to get people out there.
We would like a big turn out this year and i think this could at least get people more interested in watching it. If pig is down to do these for every major how awesome would that be?
I did have one dilemma during the tourney(as expected)...
For some reason on xbox sometimes some players cant connect to each other.
This was the case for Sev and I. Luckily we both had ps3 and were able to play on there. I would suggest this option to everyone. I would even go one step further and say if you cant connect, the person with the most options to play wins(how many systems they can play on incase something goes wrong)
Very entertaing night for 10 bucks..loved it!

I had so much fun both competing and watching these, amazing turn out especially for something online. on top of that, it was organized beautifully, not a problem. the only thing i didnt like, which lies within NRS's hands, is the KOTH stream, having the intermission between every match. makes it drag out and doesnt allot time for a stronger amount of players to get on stream. As long as everyone knows what they are getting into, about online lag, and complaining can be kept down to a minimal (which it was) then i would absolutely LOVE to see more of this go down. I would enter every xbl one!!

I'm glad to see how smoothly both sides went and people are going to get their name out there now.

I remember when @AK Pig Of The Hut and I did the MLG tournaments and both systems ended up being controversial and a clusterfuck.

Having the competitors seek out their own opponents was an AWESOME idea and things kept going right along.

Good shit guys, I definitely hope for more of these in the future.

This event ran extremely well, Only change I will definitely make it Runner up automatically gets the prize. Other than that i feel this was perfect

@Mr Aquaman @astronout @Emperor DMS @AK/RM GamerBlake @GGA Max (saw him helping too) were all tremendous in helping this event and answering questions for others and so forth. Truly awesome guys thanks!!! Ill make it up to you guys

For future tourneys i need advice
- How can we get more entrants (More entrants = more money for winners)
- Who can help spread the word of future tourneys on other sites (but they'd need to come here to register)
- Should second place get money back or bigger cut?
- Should there be a player minimum
- Should @a f0xygrampa @Qwark28 be allowed to enter if they commit to come ?
- Should winners of each tourney be allowed to compete in next tourney?
- $10.00 buy in enough too much? too low?

I hope in the future @AK/RM GamerBlake will always stream. I love how he commentates every match w passion.

Id like to start planning soon Online tourneys for the following

UFGT

EVO ($20.00 Buy in)
SJ
maybe Civil War

-Maybe people could tell their friends to join the tournament as well...
-You could tell someone who is well-known from MKU/other sited to spread the info there...
-I think second place should get his money back, that would be completely fair...
-I think there should be a player minimum unless you can organize everything & be patience, because 20 players is already a 2+ hours tourney...
-The world needs that Womder Woman & Joker, YES!
-I think they shouldn't compete, they should give someone else the chance to win
-Payment should be depending the major imo

This thing was super innovative and awesome, it's a great way to showcase online talent and people not so sure of there skills to travel to majors, and definitely gives added pressure to what I would think decently simulates the pressure of playing in an offline tournament. (Though I understand not fully). Idk if other communities have done this but if not this has to be one of the best things to happen toget people who are on the fence Of getting serious to go ahead and try it out.

I would like to see a final result list made with the placing, competitors name and the character they repped.
As a matter of fact, I thought about making an article announcing the winners of both King of Rebelos events with bracket results, character info, videos, etc.

What do you say, @AK Pig Of The Hut?

I have the info for the PS3 tourney along with the footage, I just need info for the Xbox one.

$10 is perfect buy in, if people are confident in their skills, they will all have a fair chance.

Maybe announcement videos showcasing the tournament and prizes would help pass the word. As well as getting people from each and every community to compete.

Talking to podcasts organizers and having them implement these tournaments into their topics of conversation. TYM loves podcasts.

I believe 2nd place should get $50 towards gas to nearest local. 3rd gets money back.

Also 1 solid stream. With banners and everything if possible.

Make it professional and keep it well ran, the word will spread itself. No other community does this for their players, let's show them why we are the shit.

Im willing to help anyway I can pig.
