1/30 Developer Notes: Spinal, "Jail" system, and fixes.

Sounds great for everything except jail should be more like 5%. If you are dcing more than once every 20 matches, you should pay the price.

Also...a huge deal will be if it retroactively brings in either quits, total games, both or neither. If retroactively brings in total games but not quits, those people with 1000+ games can rage quit 150 times still without being punished.

A rage quit should result in loss and give the win to the other player, always. The jail thing should just be a supplemental system to humiliate the really bad offenders, not the main deterrent.
Totally agree. This is more or less what I said to myself. Needs to be clarified more, and should still be made so that quitting results in wins and losses being assigned accordingly. Hopefully, there's a little more to it than what they've shared here.

Gotta start somewhere. I think it's pretty awesome that they are at least trying to combat rage quitting, as it's been problematic for a long time with fighting games. Though to be honest from a business standpoint I'm not sure how wise a move this is, most rage quitters don't want to adapt and learn which is why they rage quit, it could very well be that this just causes them to quit all together which is great for the other players who don't want to waste time with rage quitters but unwise from a business standpoint. Guess we'll see how things pan out.

lobbies though seriously?
They said a few weeks ago that those would not be ready for this patch. More people have expressed concern with rage quitters and a few other issues, so they seem to have prioritized those for now.

I think they chose wrong? Kinda? I think they're both important things though just saying.

I would definitely prefer lobbies, but there were bugs with the exhibition system for some and rage quitters are a nuisance to everyone and often generate the biggest outcry, so I understand their rational.

I wonder if they fixed the whole Tye Die colors thing that happens to some people online? (or makes that a new color lol)

Jail should be retroactive and 3-4%
This implementation may be whacky for determining who rage quit. It may give a DC to both people and people who don't ever rage quit still have 8-10%. Which is why it is so high, and why the developers have been so tight lipped as to why the system is made like it is.

We won't truly know until someone gets put in jail for the opponent rage quitting, then the salt will definitely flow

People on Neogaf are reporting getting jailed after someone DC's on them.

Yup guess my prediction is correct. I don't think I'll play ranked for a few days now... people will prob be rage quitting like usual which could easily put me over 15%. Gotta wait for them to get sent to jail.

Last morning I played 6 games, I seriously only completed one match, that's how bad it is sometimes. I could easily be over 15% from other people rage quitting on me.

If the system matches you against the same rage quitter over and over...and their rage quits contribute to your rage quits....soon everyone will be in jail.

Very much so, they need a better way to implement this like checking who left first or who backed out to the menu first/logged off/turned off power. Nice system but if it jails innocent players then its pretty useless.
