Killer Instinct: The Game That Is Hated For The Wrong Reasons

why are injustice players being so insecure the game is in the best place it has ever been since launch you dont have to put ki3 down to feel good about your game.
Ammm... That's exactly what some KI players started to do against the Injustice players lol XD. We are sure Injustice is sogood & getting better, the last tournaments just proved it. They are the butthurt ones then. This thread was meant to be about "KI Hating" not "Injustice vs. KI" but KI players started that shit :)

Learn manuals/counterbreak. Welcome to mindgames
I know manuals/counterbreaks. I'm actually pretty good at this game and I've placed at multiple tournaments. Manuals can be broken, and counterbreaks are a guess that can get you punished. I'm not a very big fan of the combo system. And it causes me to not enjoy the game.

I think the combosystem is genius. Manuals are really hard to get broken if you dont use the same manuals all the time, and if you start guessing, your taking huge risks and your gonna be in alot of trouble.

Alright, I just finished reading.

There are 3 types of people in this thread.

1st type: The people who own, play, and like Killer Instinct.

2nd Type: The people who own, play/choose to not play, and like Killer Instinct, but are discouraged at tournament numbers.

3rd Type: The people who don't own/play Killer Instinct and are talking out of their ass/ popular opinion.

The fact of the matter is this: Killer Instinct is a fantastic game that works. It's system is absolutely amazing.

The other fact of the matter is: The tournament numbers suck balls right now.

In time those numbers will grow.

To those of you that are butt hurt about having to spend money on a new console to play it...I don't know what to tell you...don't play it?

If that's your decision (to not play because you cannot afford) would you please and I mean this respectfully, and without one ounce of hatred, please leave the thread and not bash the game. To do so is just ignorant.

To those of you that played it and hate the game, please feel free to voice your opinions.

@AK Pig Of The Hut Would you like to set aside some time to play the game? I am sure we can both learn some things.
Yes this weekend I'm gonna sit down w it again and learn spinal

I may can play Sunday night

I'd love this game if punishes were actually punishes. But there's very little risk for doing stupid shit because you can just break the combo if you get punished. So it gives people incentive to use online mentality. And that makes the game extremely frustrating to play. Just my 2 cents.
There are punishes. If someone keeps doing stupid shit and you block you can shadow counter, meter isn't scarce in this game. The beauty of it is you can shadow counter normals too. Or alternatively you can combo them if they were negative or w/e. Sure they can break, but you have answers to that too. Counterbreak, use manuals and mix it up, or let them break and study their habbits. No matter how unpredictable people try to be, theres always a pattern. It's a very fast paced game and it is mentally taxing. But to say that there aren't punishes or that punishes are weak is false. A punish is as good as you make it. The META is all about mindgames. Due to the nature of the games mechanics, the better player will win 9 times out of 10. Sure there might be some random lucky guess every now and then but if your are better than your opponent at making reads and downloading your are almost guaranteed to win.

In this game you have an aswer for literally everything.

On a side note, on the surface this game appears casual friendly but it really isn't. I'ts a complete mental workout that not many are ready to take on, especially at a high level where the mindgames become a chess game.

i lost respect for him when i said the games AA were unbalanced and he said that a WW player should not complain about AA's

just because i play a character who can AA well doesn't mean i don't like how a decent chunk of the cast doesn't.
Dude AA does NOT always mean d 2

This is shit logic

I write too much.
Let me retort in a completely objective manner.

I am sure that in time those numbers will grow. Killer Instinct is a unique situation. There has NEVER been a situation where a fighting game of KI's calibur has been launched side by side with a console. As time goes on, more people will be getting Xbox 1's. That's just the reality of the situation. With Killer Instinct being a free game (with 1 character) that will entice more casuals to give the game a go. By the time most players get the system FOR killer instinct, odds are it will be an 8 character roster with full lobbies and an arcade mode. That's a substantial improvement.
That's actually a pretty good point. I really hope that it works out that way because this game IS good and should get a chance to shine. If the numbers increase with time, that would be amazing. I don't think that's ever happened to a fighting game before, but then again as you said KI is in a bit of a unique situation.

I don't need some giant explanation of how the combo system works. I understand the combo system. I practice this game with Steve, who is one of the best KI players in the SoCal area right now, very frequently. I heavily disagree with the combo system. I don't like the mentality it gives to players. I didn't come in here to get into an argument, just to state my opinion. I'm glad people enjoy this game and that this game is getting the exposure it deserves. I'm probably going to stick to SF and Injustice.

Whatever. I'm curious to know what mentality it is you feel it gives players. Just curious.

It gives them the IDGAF mentality that most online players have. If I'm being completely honest, I play terrible against players like that since I base my gameplay off of mainly reads and counters. And I generally lose to people with that mentality unless I can force myself to adapt. And it's very hard to get a read on someone who isn't doing optimal things, or just doesn't care about the risk/reward in a situation. Which is one of the main reasons I don't enjoy it. I do think the game is extremely entertaining at a high level, and it is very mind game heavy. But I'm not a fan of those types of situations. Like I said, not bashing the game or anything, it's just my opinion.

I totally understand you. These are what I like to call the scumbag players. I've ran into a couple myself. These types of players have no fear or respect for you. They play risky and without calculation, chaotic. I have almost the same mentality to you regarding my approach in this game. Adjusting to these kind of players is rough and mentally taxing. They anger me sometimes but I just play into there game. I stop caring and and stop respecting their options as well.

Haven't been on here in a while so correct me if I'm wrong. Ki is getting shit on for having 30 man majors. Wasn't injustice cap in the upcoming major 64? Everyone loses it demanding a higher cap, then it lists 30 registers so far.

This game is fucking boss.

I don't know why they put a KI board here because all people do is bitch and moan.

The game is great, like it or not. It does have it's flaws but it is a blast to play.

You guys are missing out.

P.S. Ryse is fucking EpIC as tits.

Yeah they still happen. Like when you do.the executions if you press the wrong button it will still come out. I don't know if it effects your xp or health regen if you do.

It just has the original Assasins Creed feel to the story that makes it great. Cutscenes are epic and the story is great.

I might be biased though because I like roman empire type stuff.

Interesting. Yeah I think it looks sweet, I just can't afford an XB1 right now lol. Otherwise I'd have it already

I totally agree with you, quality over quantity. We knew what we were getting into when we purchased KI. But if you think this game is perfect and fine and dandy, well then your wrong.

Of course this is opinion, and I'm probably wrong too. But there are things that need to be addressed. For one super flashes in this are whacky, I hate when I press something during the flash whether it be to tech or just throwing out a move. Look at my character who is doing nothing, then having the move come out even though I inputted it like 2 seconds ago.
Also Thunder's jumping HP is fucked up, and so is Sabre's dash on wake up..

As much as i loved KI, the fact that it became an xbox exclusive is what killed it for me. Such a shame..

Wow some rubbish reasons to play ki in this thread. Anyways I do not want to derail this thread but how is the xbone selling in the states compared to the ps 4? In Europe ps4 is outselling xboxone
