EVO 2011 MK STREAM

Not relevant to MK, but however it IS relevant to EVO.
Noah, 8 year old kid, is beating player after player in MvC, it's AMAZING that he wins, because he isn't good... Everybody is hype for him but although making some smart choices he mainly mashes, can hardly block, no mixups, no combos just air exchanges. He relies on big damage characters that can kill entire characters with a simple combo into lvl3 or xfactor. He is so random that he makes choices NOBODY would expect at high level, he get lucky crossupsa all the time.

Ofcourse i wish him the best, but he didn't deserve those wins and people praise him like he is the next coming of daigo or whatever. Am i pissed...a bit, although it may sound sad hating on a 8 yo xD... May he become a grat player? Very likely, but don't give someone more credit than he deserves. Anyway with most people having succes at youg ages the get cocky...hope it doesn't happen. Again, it's probably sad of me to hate, but whatever.

If he did that to me, I'd get out of my chair and fucking beat him to death with it.

It's weird enough that he's cosplaying Kitana, but whatever, I won't judge for that. When you bend over in my face after beating me, you're just asking to be put in intensive care.

Well, if Cookie was maining Sindel, i'm certain Cookie would have looked like Sindel instead of Kitana.
Nothing weird with that, but as it happens, Cookie had to change from Kitana to Sindel, thus the controversy i guess.

It's pool play. The pool play in both MVC3 and MK9 has been pretty awful so far. Which is perfectly understandable given how new the games are. I don't even like MVC3, but there is plenty of thought (that goes into constructing a team) which isn't present in either the current standard for MK or SF.

SSF4 Pool play is pretty bad as well pending on what pool you're in. Some people just cruise through their pools with ease

I see. I don't want to look like im bashing the kid tho (Even through it may be a little late for that).

But I do think MvC is a little overrated when it comes to some people that believe it is miles in front of MK (Lot's of MK haters out there in the SF and MvC crowds). MK9 has it's flaws, but both games do, and I think MK9 is close to MvC3, if not at the same level. But this belief may involve some personal taste since I haven't really played MvC a lot and don't like the series that much.

MvC3 is miles ahead of MK in some departments. Creativity, popularity, playerbase, execution is to name some. Doesn't mean MK is a bad game, it just shows that MK has room to improve and grow.

I've played MvC on and of, couldn't really get into it, watching it though is very entertaining. You can get away with some stuff in this game and also spam to a certain extend, but that goes for all fighting games. The last guy Noah beat was no slouch(royal flush?),all of his setups and overall gameplan was pretty high level and to be honest miles better, however to no avail. Noah kept mashing fierce for a lucky hit etc etc.

Point being is MvC 3 better than MK, hell no, MvC3 also has some serious balance issues, far more than MK and some literally broken stuff, is it bad? Absolutely not, it's a great game but it has its flaws, just like MK. UMvC3 will adress those and i'm certain the things MK cannot fix this time will definately be done right in MK10.

As someone who plays SSFIV, MvC3(not so much anymore), and MK now and having played DOA2-4, and Soul Calibur 2 and 4 i absolutely hate when one community is bashing another, it may not be the whole and it is almost always the biggest dbags that scream the loudest and are heard, unfortunately. It however does get on my nerves, and hating a community can set a trend because hating is cool...

Unfortunately i don't think MK will be seen at EVO next year, not because it didn't do well, but because new games are coming out like SCIV, TTT2, SFxT, UMvC3.

the whole SRK dropping MK9 out of the scrolldown is probably just overlooked, afterall SRK had multiple server changes/site overhaul. I don't see why they would turn down FREE website hits and they do post MK stuff once in awhile

New games are comming, but old games are leaving. UMvC3 will replace MvC3(duh), TTT2 probably will take T6 place, SCV and SFxT i have no idea when they are comming so it's in the air, and i think BlazBlue is more likely to leave than MK. That's why i really hope the mk top 8 put up a big show in the finals.

I'm kinda nervous, MK will be on the big screen, and what will happen there will have a great impact in MK9 future, concerning evo.

You are so right about older titles getting replaced with newer, totally forgot about that, running low on sleep here so i miss VERY obvious stuff. And MK will definately be at EVO next year, forget what i said earlier, question is how many participants it will bring in.

I saw the first set. I know he mains Kitana. REO has been maining Mileena for awhile now, but you don't see him cosplaying Mileena. Again, if the guy wants to crossdress, whatever. I'm not one to judge people for their lifestyle choices as long as it isn't my business, but when you make it my business, you're just asking for it.

Creativity. This is completely arguable, despite the fact that MvC3 hasn't done anything remotely original outside of X-factor (gee, temporary god mode, what a clever gimmick), but I just wanted to point out that you sound like a pretentious fuck.

Popularity. No shit, Marvel 2 has been played for what, ten years? Marvel 3 inherited much of its fanbase from Marvel 2, whereas Mortal Kombat hasn't been a competitive fighter since... Well, ever, really. UMK3 has always been at some tournaments, but it definitely had/has more of a niche following.

Playerbase, see above. In fact, popularity and playerbase are more or less synonymous in fighting game terms. Do you have any idea what the fuck you're talking about?

Execution. Yeah, the fact that Marvel is more execution-heavy definitely makes it a "better" fighting game. If you're actually just whining about the negative edge issue, I didn't see it slowing down Lord of the Fly's Nightwolf yesterday, and Nightwolf struggles with negative edge more than anyone (with the possible exception of Jade).

I think maybe it's time to stop posting.
