First of all, your name is so friggen hype lol i love it.
- Id pick a tournament that you want to attend and give yourself some training time. Locals are a great place to start, because theyre small and not quite as overwhelming as a major. More of a family feel(at least my scene is #mush). Im beginning SCR training pretty soon and ive set out 6 weeks to train on specific things i feel i need to improve on by watching others play. If youve just unpacked your xbox for the very first time i suggest checking around the forums and working on building your fundamentals. Theres lots of threads about what they are and what terminology means. Id also find a sparring partner either on/offline to practice things with.
- Tournaments are open to any skill level. It is your choice how good you want to be when you enter. I always encourage new players to enter tournaments just to support the game they love and to have the experience of a tournament atmosphere. One thing you will notice is that nerves can affect gameplay, as well as the timing on the monitors if you dont play regularly on the tournament standard. You may also see some things watching you'll want to work into your game. Think of it as buying a ticket to a sporting event, except you get a chance to take out the pros!
- Testyourmight is a great place to find all major tournament listings. Theres a sub forum for all areas of the US and canada, if your near the Washington state area PM me and i can help you out there. Otherwise id try searching facebook or google possibly SRK.
Im excited to see new interest in the tournament scene and i really hope we can see you at an event soon!
