What is MAGFest?

Short for "Music And Gaming Festival," MAGFest is a four day long party dedicated to the appreciation of video game music, gaming of all types, and the gaming community. The festival runs 24 hours a day, and offers consoles, arcades, tabletop, LAN, live video game cover bands, chiptunes, vendors, guest speakers, and much much more.

It's not a convention, it's a festival!

What makes MAGFest unique is that it's a non-profit event run by fans for fans. There are no corporate sponsors, no over-crowded showfloors, and no top-secret-behind-closed-doors showings. MAGFest is built from the ground up to be a party-like atmosphere with focus on community and fan creations, which creates an environment that no other expo or convention can ever recreate.

How did MAGFest start?

MAGFest started in 2002, originally under the name "Mid-Atlantic Gaming Festival." Its volunteer force has worked tirelessly for over a decade to help it grow and mature to the point its at today. It has exploded in size from its original 300, to 9000 in 2013, with an expected 12,000 or more for MAGFest 12 in January 2014.

Who runs MAGFest?

MAGFest is run by MAGFest, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to furthering the appreciation of games and video game music. MAGFest Inc.'s main method of achieving this goal is to create events which provide a means for people to enjoy games, as well as musical concerts. We hold several different events throughout the year, including Bit Gen Gamer Fest, MAGStock, and our touring concert series Game Over.

Before the festival:

1. Please take a moment to read our code of conduct. If you are younger than 18 years of age, you will need aconsent form signed by a parent or guardian. If the parent/guardian is present at the festival, they can sign it in front of us at the registration desk. If the parent/guardian will not be present, the slip can be brought pre-signed, however it MUST be notarized.

2. Pre-register for a pass! Pre-registration saves you money over the at-door price, and makes sure you have a pass in case we sell out.

3. If you plan to stay overnight, use our book hotel page to book a room in the venue hotel at a discounted rate. Make sure you book a room as soon as possible, as we will surely sell out. Other hotels are in the area, and we automatically update the availability for discounted rooms in those hotels.

At the festival:

4. Your pass can be picked up at the MAGFest registration desk when you arrive at the venue. Please make sure to bring photo ID. If you didn't pre-register, you can still buy a pass at the festival.

5. Events at MAGFest are going on every hour of every day. Consult the maps and schedule, do whatever you want, and have the time of your life! Try to get some water, food, and sleep along the way.

Guys there is a lot of free-to-enter tournaments at this event, I've been going to this since 2009 and there is so much to do in the 96 hour time frame that this event is open.

Two Scoops!
I've been going to MAGfest for the last 4 years and its honestly the highlight of my year, and I recommend it to ANYONE who likes videogames, arcade cabinets, table topping, videogame music ... it is fantastic. Concerts, an entire huge hall devoted to hundreds of free to play arcade cabinets ... great panels, excellent people ... Concerts ... last year's Powerglove performance made me believe in the power of metal all over again. I've been looking forward to this year's magfest since the last year's ended.

Is there going to be an Injustice tournament there this year though, I wonder?
