GGA's Secret Santa Edition of Ghost Battle Series took place last night and featured out-of-town guests AK Glass_Sword and AK ichokeonkush who made the trip from the ATL scene to get ready for the main event of Frosty Faustings, happening this weekend. Although they drove straight through and were surely tired from the drive up to the Chicago area, our ATL brothers put on some hype matches for our local.
Ichokeonkush played NRF ImNewbieSauce sporting his recently chosen new main of Green Arrow right away first round, and unfortunately was sent to losers bracket right away after a decisive 2-0 win for ImNewbieSauce.
Due to GGA Wafflez being free to school and driving, he is NOT one of out seeded players - even though he is one of the "better" players that trains at GGA. Since Wafflez is not seeded, a first round draw of GlassSword happened by random chance and was sure to shake up the brackets. Displaying more patience than we knew he was capable of, Wafflez took a close 2-1 win from Glass Sword in the first round of the tournament. Afterwards, Wafflez put on a good show after his win narrowly loosing to NEC champion GGA pimpimjim in losers semis, earning a very respectable 4th place finish.
"Hollywood" GGA Fill Pops continued to demonstrate why he and his Lobo should't be slept on by anyone. After winning a very close 1st game vs Glass Sword, a controller malfunction caused him to lose the 2nd match via DQ. The 3rd match was a great display of patience from both players, with Glass Sword's Raven zoning and Fill Pops able to resist the urge to move/dash at the wrong times. Fill Pops earned himself another impressive scalp, eventually defeating a previous Atlanta Kombat Arena winner in Glass Sword and putting him out of the tournament.
"Rational" Southside Jim was continuing to demonstrate his impressive Flash game-play, with a big win over Toryuken champion GGA Jeremiah on his way to a 5th place tie after a close loss to Wafflez.
GBS veterans GGA 16 Bit and Maxintensity25 ran through all their opponents in winners to square of in both Winners and Grand finals, with Max having a definite advantage in the Winners bracket, winning 3-1. In the grand finals, after 16 Bit defeated Pimpimjim in losers finals, 16 Bit made a few good adjustments and made the grand finals much more competitive, narrowly losing 3-2 to Max's expert Bane game-play.
