Killer Instinct Patch Incoming says FilthieRich: General Fixes, Ranking System and more

Just minutes ago on twitter the community manager for Double Helix Games, FilthieRich annouced via twitter that the next Killer Instinct patch will be arriving shortly. This patch will include general fixes, ranking system fixes, Killer Instinct store unlocks and more.

When the patch notes go "LIVE" they will be posted on the http://www.doublehelixgames.com/ website. Be sure to check back as we will be listing the changes/fixes when they are posted.

Take a note NRS, there's no mention of "rebalancing." patches should be used to fix bugs and make the game better. I cant wait for this.

the game was patched 2 days after release to remove universal unbreakables w/use of instinct cancel. This patch removes more unbreakables and the unblockable crouching LK after an overhead into instinct cancel is blocked.

Those are 3 MAJOR changes that had/have a drastic effect on character balance. Example: Sabrewulf vs Glacius was not a bad mu in the day 1 version, but became one after Sabrewulf lost his big damage instinct cancel unbreakable.

This shows that even when a dev says "we wont patch early like other *cough* companies do, we will let things develop first", they will patch and patch the game at the first sign of something they don't like.

NRS did a good job with IGAU.

I wonder will winning a match be equal to losing a match. Currently it's easier to lose rank than to gain it. You lose more in your ranking bar from losing than you gain from winning a match.

This was how it is in SF..based on your bp or pp or whatever the hell it was. All I know is I sat pretty around 2k points because even beating someone who was "better" than me got me less points than what I'd lose from losing to equal or lower skill rank people.

Hopefully they fix the ranked matches so people get punished for quitting out.

I also hope to see Sabrewulfs corner bug removed, getting sick of using my setups in the corner and being sent fullscreen for my trouble.

You completely missed my point. The point was that even when a dev says "no early patches, we are using a wait and see approach", they will still patch as early as day 1 or 2. Yet people like you seem to support it when any company other than NRS does it, and blast NRS for doing it for.. as you said "the better". My point had nothing to do with wanting to abuse anything..

and never come to this site and blast "tymers" as ppl who want braindead shit. This coming from someone who cant win when they cant escape a combo anytime they want after they get hit... See how dumb that statement was? About as dumb as yours..

Maybe I came off a little defensive and while I do agree with most things you said I still dont see how you can compare removing an unbreakable combo to mk9 dash nerf, kanos nerfs, subs nerfs, universal armor, player 1 advanced, random frame advance, inj scorpions nerfs etc.

I love mk but nrs makes their games feel stiffed and weird ass hell, the only reason most of us played mk9 is bc we love the franchise and why most dont play inj is bc we dont love it and the game feels horrible not to mention weekly changes which dont happen with DH on KI3.

DH only patches broken stuff, they dont nerf or buff chars a few weeks after release just bc scrubby tymers dont know how to deal with it.

edit: in addition, DH has the luxury of having a tiny roster of characters to balance (even then there are still bad MUs present). Lets see how well they cope if/when the roster gets to traditional fighting game levels.

Bad MUs are part of the game, why is it the AE players grind out bad mus and most of us just cry at the first sign of a possible 6-4?

Bad mus are part of fighting games, if you love your main grind it out if not just counter pick.

In KI3 the 6 chars seem tournament viable and im sure when spinal ans fulgore comes out they will be too.
DH has been working on the game for about a year and the game feels fluid, depth and fun to play. Now look at mk9 with 32 chars? And only 6 tournament viable chars, if u were serious about winning a mk9 major you had to use Cyrax, kabal, kenshi, sonnya or kung lao....

I dont want to keep bringing out the past but just check this out and see for yourself all things that were wrong with mk9.

So.. the fact that IGAU was done pretty well means lets keep bringing up MK9...

Also, IGAU was patched several times, with a big roster. KI will now be patched 2 times in the first month. Thats fine, they are needed patches. My question is: Why is it ok for any other dev to patch their fighter multiple times but people bash NRS for it? Especially when the patches to IGAU were for the better of the game...

I have never said anything negative about KI3, there is nothing I don't like about it. I defended NRS when someone said "Take Notes NRS!"

NRS patched IGAU for the better, DH is doing the same with KI.
