Now before we get this topic started. I'd like to start off by saying this: This thread is simply a discussion. This is not my opinion, this is not me throwing what I believe to be fact in people's faces, nor is this an attempt to bash the Xbox One. This is NOT a console hating thread nor is this a #PS4LYFE #SonyPonySwag thread. Now with that said let us begin.

The Skinny: Apparently the reason why KI online feels so "smooth" and "crisp" is due to a few games vs the AI thrown in. Basically replacing your Online Opponent with a bot due to the game desynching. So people are saying/speculating. You guys would know better than me due to the fact I have not purchased the Xbox One. Someone please tell me that this is false information started by the Sony Militia.

So what do you guys think? A mirage to place ungodly slander upon Killer Instinct before the game can even grow its wings and soar to the top of the Fighting Game Trophaeum? Another attempt by the Xbox One hater brigade to show Sony Supremacy? A legitimate gripe that will get you so amped up to fetch a pitch fork? Hell maybe it inspires you to stop playing video games and just tell your mother that you love her. I don't know.

Discuss.

its true. me n rebelo were playing and we both somehow desynced but were still playing each other supposedly but we each were playing like a different person since he won his match and i won mine.. i now see that was a bot. still most of our games were very smooth though

I thought it did roll backs? That's what happens to Maximilian at least. Won't have my Xbox for a couple of more weeks so no personal experience to go by.

So this is going to kill the vibe for any online tournaments if this problem persists throughout the games life cycle. But at least for what its worth it still has a smooth go when it works. So that's nice.

This actually happened to me. My friend and I did a Glacius mirror. I picked Color 1 and on my screen he was Color 2, but on his screen he was color 1 and I was Color 2. I ended up beating him with 1 second left, but he was all excited because on his screen he won on a timeout.

It was weird man

EDIT: But after that, we both went back into the fight archive and then it showed both of us the same result with me winning, so if there is any controversy in a online tourney, we can probably just check the archive

When you start playing with someone regularly, you'll know when this happens. I mean look at the AI FFS! Just throwing out normals and shit all willy nilly. Not saying its going to happen all the time, but damn I can see this being annoying. Is there not a way to play an extended set with someone continuously in the game? Like wouldn't you have to reconnect to them after the fight and then be like "why are we disconnected if we were just playing?" Idk. Someone educate my #sonyponyswag self.

LOL online tourneys.

The netcode is pretty much lag free. What more could you ask for? I truly don't care if 1/10 matches is "incorrect" if all feel lag free and I can get my training in.

Online is never meant to be taken seriously, anyhow.

no you wont its actually pretty deceptive because the opponent is still no slouch and it actually looks like their playing. we would have had no idea had we not been in a party together

Play Monster Hunter!
From what I understand the AI does NOT take over, the game just desyncs with out ending the match, so you are still playing, but since it's not synced up anymore, stuff happens differently on each screen because of latency. So a person is still technically controlling their character, but since they are in different places in each version of the match, it just looks like they are attacking the air or jumping around like an asshole.

This sounds more like it. I mean Glacius did do that same combo even after the "AI swap" that occurred.

That would make sense. So this is a case of things getting completely FUBARed then?

Due to it's apparent infrequency (I generally just play people I know, and we are chatting during the fight), it is a rather elegant way to handle desync issues when they do arise. Much better than a dump or laggy mess.

This is pretty bad, but most importantly, am I the only one annoyed at the ultra low tier Ryu gameplay in the second video e________e (probably yes lolol).

I've never had it happen as far as I know. Maybe it did the 1/50 times I actually dced in a game. Regardless its still online so it will never perfectly emulate offline if that's what your asking

I don't know. I feel like if they knew this from the beginning, then they should have been up front about it from the beginning. That is to say if they weren't. I would honestly prefer a dialog box to arise, to notify both players of the problem and ask if you want to disconnect.

Edit: Or to ask if you want to restart the match...
