When you're at neutral, approach him with the assistance of bats. Recognize moments where he can take a moment to zone. When you recognize those moments, BLOCK LOW. And if you block a black magic attempt, take a full dash forward to close the gap.

If he jumps up, start blocking high in case he dive kicks.

I'd have to watch video of you fighting him to further evaluate.

I'm hard on myself all the time in FGs. (In a postive way). I grind match ups for hours if need be. They were good games though.

Your Ares looks hella better than last time I fought him.
That matchup still seems so bad for Ares lol.
