so about a year ago i heard G4 was getting rebranded by esquire and that x play and AOTS were cancelled but today i just noticed the channel G4 still exists then i looked it up and saw that they took over style network instead so G4 is still in limbo until whenever, so i was just wondering if anyone would like to see it be revived and brought back to its former glory. i dont mean the last few years i mean the original G4 that ran from 2002-2005
this G4
i mean i think in this era a channel on tv completely about video games would be perfect seeing as its alot bigger than it was 10 years ago and its still growing, i know now we have ign, gamespot etc but g4 had good original programming and if this was brought back on tv i think it could be succesful if done correctly.
all they would have to do imo is bring back the original shows like:
Arena - about competeive gaming (could do some good things for the fgc)
Blister - about action games (trailers, interviews etc)
Cheat - well.....cheats. tips tricks tutorials
Cinematech - trailers and cutscenes from video games
Filter - top 10 countdowns of different themes
Icons - focused on icons in the gaming industry
Judgement Day - reviews, could/would be replaced by X-play
Players - interviewinig celebrities who played video games
Pulse - News show, could/would be replaced with Attack of the Show
Sweat - all about sports games

now obviously there could/would be more but i think bringing back these classic shows would be a great start. i might just be in a nostalgic rut but idk i think it could work and im not the only one who would like to see this right?

sorry for the length. tl;dr i miss g4 here are the og shows, they should all be brought back + more

I sorely miss the old G4. That channel defined an entire section of my life because the outstanding level of interaction between the hosts/producers and the viewers created a community that was unforgettable.

In fact, the G4 Forums are responsible for so many of the friends I've made today because it's what got me into competitive gaming. It's probably the reason I'm even here. When I found the channel in 2002 I joined the forums and it had been the first place in which I posted obsessively. There was a pretty developed Xbox Live community and I played a lot of MechAssault during those years; however, what really pushed me towards fighters was participating in a Melee tournament during one of the G4 Forum meetups at PhillyClassic 4. After that day I started playing fighters pretty seriously and returned the following year--at PhillyClassic 5--to win the subsequent Melee tournament. I also picked up DDR at that convention which ended up creating this other ridiculous chapter in my life, but that's another story.

Honestly, I can't stand X-Play or AoTS. Everything changed for the worse when TechTV came along. Some of the most likable and awesome hosts got pushed out and the forums exploded, making it really hard to get that more personal interaction between the hosts/viewers. In the glory days of G4, hosts like Tommy Tallarico, who is infinitely more likable than you would assume after watching Judgement Day, opened his house to a ton of forum members for the most epic party in the site's recorded history.

In fact, speaking of Tommy Tallarico, when he came to PhillyClassic he was actually tracking down forum members instead of fans tracking him down. I remember while I was playing the Melee tournament he tapped me on the shoulder and recognized me from a picture. Just a year ago I went to Video Games Live, roughly 10 years later, and he still remembered who I was. It wasn't just Tommy either though; several hosts really cared that much about the viewers. They'd often call us all the time to fill in spots on G4tv.com when someone would back out or appear on Pulse if we were at a convention.

It's a shame this was a bit before the days of Youtube otherwise I'd have all these appearances on the net. I think there's still one from Pulse but I look horrifically embarrassing and it's likely for the best that it doesn't remains unearthed. Anyway, I'm rambling, as I tend to do when I don't post some sort of flippant comic, but man this is something that really hits me square in the nostalgia.

Now that I think about it, since G4 was a bit before the days of Facebook I don't currently know almost anyone who used to frequent the forums. I wonder where they all went... had Facebook been a few years earlier (or G4 a few years later) I'd probably be in contact with them all today haha.

this is amazing man i wish i couldve gone on the forums back then, the channel was a big part of my childhood (i was 11 in 2002) and part of the reason i got more into video games than most kids my age and i remembered tommy tallarico specifically and i never thought he seemed too bad haha
i also wasnt a fan of the tech tv merger i think it was the beginning of the end, if im not mistaken thats when the "tv 4 gamers" slogan ended. i jsut want the glry days back i REALLY think G4 was just ahead of its time

When G4 was killed, we had nothing left on television.
We flocked to the internet, as internet as a whole got better and more popular.
"We" being the nerd/geek/voluntarily indoors people..

idk about 2002-2005 but i used to watch it pretty long ago when there was actually gaming shows and other random stuff, it was definitely still a better channel back then

yeah really, why arent there any gaming only shows on tv right now?
exactly my point, its something you would swear exists already but sine g4 went wayward there really is no one making shows about video games, i think gametrailers has 1 show at like 2am or something but thats it

Honestly, I agree with everything all of you are saying since I watched G4 since it was created, but am I the only one who would like to see all the hot women that have been on G4 again on T.V.? A very shallow part I know, but having eye candy added to great shows is never a bad thing.

Its Kristin Adams now and on AOTS they mentioned she got married and had a kid. I remember an episode of Cheat where she is playing Guitar Hero 3(?) with Kevin and she is swaying her butt around a lot in shorty shorts. I remember it is because, besides the obvious, even Kevin got distracted.

I miss G4 tv the worse part is watching the old episodes from this year of x-play and knowing it was canceled not to long ago. What a shame.
