Playing Killer Instinct with pad

I'm considering jumping into the hype machine known as Killer Instinct. I haven't been playing fighting games for to long, my first being injustice which I've gotten pretty good at. But I've only played on a ps3 pad. I was wondering if killer instinct is a game that is pad friendly like injustice and mk9.

If your not used to an arcade stick then it just comes down to your personal preference. I play Injustice and MK on pad and love it but I can't play 6 button fighters like KI and SF on a pad. I hate having to use the shoulder buttons for attacks. Alot of players have been saying the pad works fine and the ones I have seen that don't like it mainly play on a stick. Sony has the better d-pad imo so it might feel wierd to you at first if thats what your used to. I don't own an Xbone yet but I played around with one at my local gamestop and I thought the d-pad was fine my gripe is with the shoulder buttons.

I have the same question... well, for the most part.

I guess I want to more so ask, "is the XB1 pad more fighting game friendly than the 360 pad (the DPAD SUCKS)?"

you will get used to it but yeah it would probably be better play on a sony pad or one of the madcatz sfiv pads than use xbox 1 pad unfortunately there is no converter so for you pad guy you gotta just use the xbox 1 pad for now.

I've played on the xbox 1 pad, and its not as good as a ps pad as far as i can tell. The inputs are awkward when you want to do a df special. It wasn't coming out. You might have to be more deliberate with your inputs, similar to the 360 pad.

Yeah I've been playing on the pad because I'm forced to, and QCF motions are the WORST. I've lost the majority of matches because I can't get enders. Luckily I'm getting two sticks next weekend ^_^

So is anyone having successes with the d pad or is it a 100% no go? im getting my xbox in a couple weeks and if I have to use a normal pad i'd rather it be the d-pad seen as I am used to using A madcatz fight pad

I had basically met the brick wall that has the huge spray painted graffiti saying "YOU DON'T PLAY ON STICK" when I was about 5 minutes in to using my IGAU tournament edition stick.

Dem'damn pad warriors.. I am one of them. This also concerns me and is the biggest reason I do kinda dread "what am I going to play on?"...

I played pad for a few days, I am not a pad player but looking back at it, it wasn't that bad. When I switched to stick I was just about as good on both for the first few days, now im much more acclimated to the stick and prefer it by a country mile, but in retrospect the pad wasn't as bad as I thought it was at first.

Thank you. I didn't want to create a new topic so it was better to just post it somewhere else. And seeing how this isn't "match footage", i just picked another thread. :)

Not even kidding, counting down the days before I can play this game on stick. Can't do dps, can't react, feel like in learning how to play fighting games not killer instinct, huge blister, hand cramps, lol

Yeah,I've heard more negative than positive feedback for ki on the pad so for the time being the next gen can go fuck themselves.

I just wish I could make my LT a "no function" button, I keep pressing it by accident and getting shadow moves I don't want.

I play Sabrewulf, back-forward all day. Pad is fine for the lycanthrope.

Any fireball motion with Glacius is a huge issue though.

I also agree with Ketchup above, random shadows are irritating.

are you using d-pad or analog stick? Im wondering whether ill have to get used to the analog stick or not

XB1 dpad is still bad. Better than the 360 though but that really isn't saying too much. Someone needs to hurry up and come up with a converter so I can use my DS4.

It sucks bad man, I lost half the feeling on my thumb the first day (true story), the game is amazing though so I just deal with it.

Reading all these posts make me realize that yeah, I wouldn't be having any of these problems on a PS3/4 pad.

Here is to a PC release of KI someday
