Once I get a console I'm gonna focus most of my time on Glacius and Thunder, so "Present and Accounted for!"
It just looks like once you get a hard knockdown you can just impose your will on your opponent...Oh and his theme is bad ass.
 
Maining, and will only main this character, thick and thin. Please tag me in any major updates. Having so much fun with this game, but must wait to fully delve in until after NEC.

So just outta curiosity do we have any solid combos yet?? i don't have it but im going to the local arcade tomorrow for fight night tomorrow and i really wanna give thunder a good look

I'll try my best to give you something...

I lik to punish with d mp df mp (auto double of choice) df mp (ad of choice) df mp (ad) df hp

You can end in different ways:
You can and in light ad with gives you frame advantage but does cash in potential damage.

You can end in comand grab
Head butt uppercut
Or what ever. But the combos in this game are not dials...they are are situational and are used to confuse your opponent

Trying to pick Thunder up now, will work on him more tonight, but currently Sabrewulf is my back-up/panic mode choice.

So far I've had some fun in casuals, like using the ankle cutter (dbk) as an opener. Anyone know if db hk has any viability as a dodge/counter?

There aren't actual combos. You have to change up what you do every time in order to keep your opponent guessing. If you do the same thing every time it will be really easy to break. Sure you have counter breakers and stuff but it's more of a mind game if you mix things up.

You do whatever opener (ususally cr. strong into some form of tripple axe) xx auto double/manual xx (lk/mk version of ankle chop) and you can repeat that until your combo gauge is full. You can choose to super at any point during the combo to get more damage and make the combo harder to break.

As for punishes your best bet is probably cr. jab xx tripple axe for a combo, but you're usually going to have to use cr. strong since cr. jab has like no range. The jab starts up at 4 frames and the strong starts up at 8. So you'll be able to punish a lot of stuff with that. His universal punisher however is command grab super. It starts up at 5 frames and has ridiculous range. On top of that you can even use it to punish things you wouldn't be able to necessarily punish due to it's invul frames.
 
Anyone know if back throw as a linker can be broken? I want to integrate it more into my combos, but there's really no point if it can catch an easy light breaker.

Interesting find. Possible reset.

When you use HP Triplax as a combo ender mid screen it pushes your opponent away from you. Well if you instinct cancel the first hit of that ender as quick as possible then dash forward you can follow up with a MP or HP ankle slicer and about 90% of the time I've been able to get a reset new combo.

Still messing with the proper timing but I think this could be very useful. Haven't tested to see if there are other options besides the ankle slicer follow up. Still working on that.

It can be broken with lights but it has to be broken early (between the time he grabs to to when he starts swinging you). Once you start appearing on the other side its too late to break but you can counter if they tend to try and break it.
Only real use I've had for it in combo is to move them out of the corner so I can end with damage ender while keeping them in the corner

To be fair, Glacius looks like a bad MU for everyone not named "Orchid", at least at the moment.
Everyone has a way to cover a lot of ground (Orchid slide, Sadira wall jump, Jago wind kick, Sabre run). With thunder your only option is a quick skyfall cancel of dp to cover ground but only worthwhile if you can judge the distance properly and hope the don't block/you cross up.
I will say though, after having more time with the matchup and watching NEC, I don't think its as bad as I used to think
 
ChaoticShdwMonk I was at nec, hoping to learn something rico knew that I didn't in the mu. I didn't. That glacius player did not in the least fully abuse their zoning. Not to be overly negative, but nec held no sway in enlightenment. ..

Anyone have a good follow up from shadow command grab launch? Same with his cr fierce antiair. On the ground I can special cancel but when the opponent is in the air I'm having trouble converting hits to anything good
