Looking for some help!

Hey guys im new to MK9 coming from Street Fighter.

Ok i have this problem where for example i start a combo with Nightwolf and then try combo it into lightning and instead it does his bow everytime but the thing is im pressing the input for the lightning but yet it does the bow even on the input display in training it says i end with FK.

So is there a way around this?

I think it means enhanced lightning. Which is faster on start up. Not sure though, maybe the staggered state from that combo will allow it? I am not sure myself. Could be just outdated info?

The negative edge is really bad in the game. Plus notice it is the enhanced version of the lightning not the normal one. Enhanced lightning pops up, normal doesnt.

I just went and tried countless times to do FP,BP,BP,FP into EX Lightning and it would not work is there something im doing wrong? I really wanna learn all his combos from that guide

It might not combo into it. It might be unblockable? Dunno. I read that ex lightning is GUARANTEED after shoulder if opponent does not do some invincible wake up.

Are you waiting for FP,BP,BP,FP to finish before you do EX Lightning? That might be the issue lol. If you do the input for Lightning before the string ends, it might cancel into it, making the lightning come out faster.

But I know with Nightwolf his strings sort of mess up with negative edge and you end up bringing out choke when you want hatchet/arrow when you want lightning so i understand.

Youre right! i was trying it out and it doesnt work maybe its an error or something.

Anyway you should go for his typical BnB which is:
f3 1, hatchet, hatchet, dash, 1 dash, 1, dash 122, shoulder charge

Is that what negative edge is? I thought I just sucked with execution. So wait. Is it me sucking with reptiles 1,2,2, into forceball that sometimes wiffs because the forceball comes out too early? And its not my fault that sometimes i do nightwolfs 1,2,2 into hatchet but mysteriously choke em?

Negative edge is pressing an input once, but it actually counts as 2 inputs. Go into practice mode with someone. Use a special, but HOLD DOWN whatever attack button you used. Then, once the special move is done, do the movement input again but this time just release the attack input. The special move will come out like you pressed the button, when in reality, you only let go of the button. (Cage: B,F 4[hold] ~shadow kick~ B,F 4[release] ~shadow kick~)

The forceball coming out quickly is called cancelling, that's a bit different from Negative edge. But yeah 1,2,2 into hatchet bothers me, I get choke often. That's because of negative edge mostly.

Yeah that's negative edge there is a way around most of it just wait for the last attack to hit then do the motion of the move you want to come out and there shouldn't be a problem. Nightwolf on the other hand is frustrating me with negative edge i cant seem to get the FP BP BP FP EX Lightning sussed.
