SAVE A LIFE: AMAZINGLY TALENTED NAUGHTY DOG REPLICA CREATOR NEEDS OUR HELP

to save his life.

David Vigil, otherwise known as "That Vigilante" is suffering from Stage 2 Pancreatic cancer. Last year, David was also fighting for his life because of cancer, but with the help of some very generous people and the massive spread of word on twitter and such, enough money was raised to save him. Unfortunately, during a simple check-up, they found out that the cancer has spread and David is now in an even worse state than before. If David wants to get treated, he needs $48,000 before November 18th, which is a hell of a goal.

UPDATE!!!!!

The guys and gals at Naughty Dog helped him tremedously last year through twitter (I remember Amy Hennig frantically rallying everyone to donate, and personally thanking everyone who did). His name also appears in the Last of Us in the form of a collectible Firefly pendant, in case his name rings a bell.

David makes amazing collectible merchandise inspired by Naughty Dog games and his work has been featured on Kotaku, among other sites. He's made multiple watches from Uncharted (did you know Drake wears a different one in each game?), Drake's leather gun holster, his belt buckle, Ellie and Joel's backpacks, a Clicker pencil holder, and more.

Some examples of his work:

It would be such a shame if this world would lose a talent like David.

If you have a little money to spare and want to help, you can go to:
- His GoFundMe page and donate, or
- Go to his website and order any of his products (all the money will go directly towards funding David's treatment) as he has them in stock and can be shipped starting January.

USE CODE "FREESHIP001" FOR FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE!!!
(Donations on the GoFundMe page can be made with creditcard or bank. You can also donate with Paypal by donating through the website, choosing the "Donation for David" product!)

Let's help this guy see Naughty Dog's first next-gen game, guys. It would break my heart if he didn't live to see it :(. I don't know a bigger ND fan than David.

Thanks for your time! And if you can't donate, please keep him in your prayers.

Let's do this!

(everything above was a quote from Kubus on Neogaf)

I'm trying to post this anywhere I can right now as there is not much time to help on this. I saw it on Neogaf and wanted to post it here as well.

TLDR- the man has to have surgery and he's only got a few days to raise the money for it. I didn't know where to go with this so I'm trying to spread this to anywhere I can that I feel might help.

For fucks sake. The man is dying.

Can we not use this as a platform for a political discussion on public health care and instead just post about how many times you've hit the donate button?

There's hardly any good, creative people in the world as it is, we can't afford to lose any more.

Not to be very negative and this is sad, but pancreatic cnacer almost never goes away and yes I agree lets keep the stupid health care political BS out of this, its atrocious how some one always has some shit to say about.

Anything anyone can do helps. If you can't donate then try to promote this anywhere you can (facebook, twitter, other forums, etc)

The man is on a very short time table to generate the funding needed to save his life. I dont want the world to lose him.

*bump*

Yeah, I'll be bumping this thread more than a cheap hooker.

I have a soft spot for artists- ordered some awesome stuff and shared this on facebook. Everyone else should consider doing the same. Besides, it's not just giving away money- you get some awesome stuff in return. I'm gonna be the coolest-looking spelunker EVER.

Yeah the leather survival backpacks he sells are of amazing quality for any hiker or traveler.

Donate, buy his products, share...anything will help right now. The man is an amazing talent and I dont want us to lose him. This is an all call to anyone with ANY kind of social network to put this out there in front of as many folks as possible. If only 9600 people gave $5 each he'd be saved.

Do whatever you can folks, whether its donate, buy merch, or share it goes a long way to save his life...literally.

Keep sending this out guys. He's got around a day left and he's only at around $8000. He's going to die if the other $40,000 for his surgery doesn't pull through. If you can't donate PLEASE, I beg you all send this out to any social network you got.

Here's some more on this fundraiser from his friend Kubus on Neogaf

He posted regularly on his facebook and twitter when he was still fine. When his condition got worse, he said so and then shortly after he disappeared. Then I heard from Jackson that David was in the hospital and that he was doing much worse.

To tell you truth, I knew that David's cancer had returned long before that was made public... But he insisted I didn't tell anyone. I was planning to make this thread a couple weeks ago but David told me not to. Because he didn't want to be a burden to anyone.

Now, because of his own unselfishness, he might not make it. If it wasn't for Jackson setting up the GoFundMe page, he would still be suffering without anyone knowing.
Please...I know this is a lot to hope for at this point, but dont give up. Try to push this. I dont want to hear he died because he didn't want to ask for help. I dont even own a PS3 or have any history with the titles he's made stuff for...I just dont want this man to die because he felt like he was a burden on the world or something. I want him to live...please do anything you can.

I know...I know I'm grasping at straws at this point, but I dont want the man to die. I emailed my old animation school in hopes they could circulate this to students since they email notices and happenings a lot to folks and alumni. Anything at this point thats left as a social networking chance I'll take. Send it out to anyone you can, tweet it, facebook it, email it to kotaku or eventhubs or any of the rest...anything. Im just desperate to see him get the surgery.

Damn I'm really digging the backpack I would spend the 150 but it will have to be next week :(, I wish I would have known about this far ahead of time, but this is like last minute since supposedly the guy needs to come up with the full amount by tommorow smh, hang in there buddy! Keep fighting the good fight!

Share it on your Facebook accounts.

If as many people donated a buck or just shared the page link as often as they clicked "like" on those "If I get 1,000,000 likes our mommy will buy us a puppy" bullshit, this guy would have his treatment,

UPDATE FROM THE ORIGINAL NEOGAF THREAD CREATOR

(these are the latest posts in the thread from neogaf that originally made me aware of this situation. Here are his updates on David and his hospital's payment setup thats been setup for his emergency surgery)

Almost at the halfway point! Amazing how far we've come!

Honestly I have no idea. I get the feeling this GoFundMe thing doesn't really work with deadlines like, for example, Kickstarter. The page will probably still exist beyond Nov 18, but I'm not 100% sure. We need as much money as possible this day though, because pushing the deadline back means David's treatment has to be delayed. And with the state he is in now, that's not a good idea.

I'll ask Jackson if he has a more specific answer to that, and maybe if he can give some perspective on what is possible with the money raised so far.

Quick update before I go to bed again:
- The deadline can be pushed back a bit, it is probably worth it to invest some more time in this because of donations are starting to pick up. Until the momentum is gone, it's best to stay open for donations. So please keep spreading word, it's not over yet!

- [strike]To get David into surgery a minimum of 38k is needed. We're getting awfully close to this amount so this should definitely be do-able!! Of course, the 47k will also be needed in the end for the aftercare and such. But we can now prioritize working to a smaller goal![/strike]
Edit: just got word that 18k was needed for surgery and theyre getting David in! Then it's 20k for after the surgery and then the remaining amount is aftercare. So we should still focus on getting 38k asap but this is good news already!!

There will probably be an update about this on the gofundme page soon. In the meantime I have to ask of you again to keep bumping from time to time to make sure this stays in sight. I'll be joining you guys first thing in the morning again.

If anyone can figure out why reddit keeps deleting posts about this, that would be great. Reddit is probably a good place to get more donations from!

Thanks!!
OhmygodOhmygodOhmygod...Keep going guys! Push this anywhere you can. He can get his surgery and then the rest of the funding for his the after surgery and care can be setup afterwards which gives us more time to raise the rest of the funds he needs to recover. Thank you everyone. We are really close to having David taken care of through everyone's efforts and I can't thank you all enough. Just a little further and he'll be able to afford all the medical costs for this. I cannot tell you how great this is right now. There are no ways to describe it.
