With the release of the PS4, and it's "issues". The graphics are nice, BUT, there's absolutely no discernible differences, other than increased specs. The new controller feature is cute, to say the most.

XBOX however, has plenty of futuristic tech that's available already. Not only does it have the potential of becoming the central hub for your entertainment systems in the living room, but the gaming specs are on par with the PS4 at the same time. It has seriously become 100% compatible with every person in the house. In essence, it is the ultimate entertainment system.

I have never been, nor shall I ever be, a console fanboy. But I will always remain, an optimistic, unbiased, realist. The PS4 offers a steroid-ed version of PS3. Whereas the XBOX has really innovated everything, big gamble too, and I respect that.

Discuss your thoughts on who REALLY is moving towards future tech. P.S. I have the PS4 pre-ordered, and I'm giving it to my wife. XBOX for me!

Yeah i'm going for Xbox because I think they've really tried to make some changes. I look the direction they're going, and to me it seemed like the only fuel powering the PS4 was the fact that Xbox One originally pissed off alot of people with their whole idea. Now that Xbox has heard everyone out and changed their ways, it seems even more apparent to me that the Xbox One is going to be the system that not only implemented some pretty bad ass ideas, but executes them well. Sony can't really play it safe anymore like they did in the beginning...

PS4, I just love Sony and I feel like they really understand the gamer. I don't like the way MS runs their gaming division. I haven't used the Xbox One controller, and although it looks better than the last version I really think the DS4 is probably the best controller made to this point (out of ones that I have actually used).

When it is all said and done the extra entertainment features of the XBone don't do anything for me. I want a gaming console first and foremost. I already have a ton of other devices that do the rest.

I think Sony is going to end up following the footsteps of Xbox one eventually.

I agree with you. Their gaming base is definitely over that of the Xbox. But at some point, gamer experience via System, will peak. Then it will come down to the actual game. With that said, the PS4 doesn't really do anything that the PS3 didn't, so in my head, I'm asking myself "Why would I spend a couple hundred bucks on a beefed up copy of something I already have"? Lol.

ATM, I agree, the PS4 has the edge, but looking at it as an investment situation, every purchase you make should be in this sight, the Xbox has more longevity.

The answer really comes down to the games in the end. Sure you obviously have other answers like hardware such as the controller, but LBSH there will be converters in no time so it isn't a real issue.

I think both systems are going to be great and easier to develop for than ever since they decided to use a more PC-like build. Hopefully this generation is more about the games and not about the frills of other odds and ends type entertainment value options. I just want good games because the last generation was a mess if you look at it collectively. Very few standout titles and so many games were dumbed down in difficulty to a level that was literally frustrating.

For a gaming console I only think longevity is determined by the quality of games hitting the platform. Considering the life span of a system seems to be roughly 10 years a ton of features you are mentioning will become obsolete through releases of other new hardware, but the games from all of these developers/console exclusives will not until the next console is released (obviously the PC negates this a bit).

Besides the fact the PS4 will have a ton of awesome games, I suppose there is no reason to buy it. /sarcasm

And the XB1's features are redundant. Everyone, literally everyone, who would want one of these things already has access to the features it has with other products, as Ribbz said.

That's the beauty tho. ok, take your cell phone for example.

-It makes phone calls
-It texts/emails
-Plays games
-Navigates
-Video player
-Audio player
-Calculator
-Calendar
-etc. . . .

The xbox 1 is the console version of the cell phone. It's slowly doing away with the need of having multiple machinery, and bringing it all to one spot. I can definitely see the box out living it's counter part.

And why would I WANT any of that anyway?
As I said, I would already have all of it, so it's redundant.

Plus, as with most people buying any console, I want it for games, which is clearly not in MS's endgame plan here.

That's just one aspect of it. If you look at specs, they mirror the PS4's as well. They even have more major developers backing them than Sony. It's not that the gamers are being overlooked. It's that the XBOX is moving forward. Gaming has been the portfolio of the XBOX for 2 generations, it should go unsaid that the quality won't disappoint. I mean come on, when was the last time McDonald's promoted it's Big Mac? Lol, but it's always there. Different shit, same concept.

The whole entertainment aspect of a gaming console holds no weight for me, it's all about what games excite me. Right now what I'm looking forward to is Titanfall, KI and whatever Halo title comes out down the line; so microsoft has my attention. It doesn't mean Sony won't have exclusives that will peak my interest but....

Who cares about specs? They'll run just fine on either console.
And by "major developers," who do you mean, specifically?
Sony has its own force of top-shelf devs as well.

And these major developers are, I'd be willing to bet, multi-plat devs anyway, so we'll see a lot of cross-platform games.

So there was an adverisement that showed two players on Xbox 1 using some sort of screen sharing feature, whereby a smaller portion of the screen was basically a stream of what was on the other persons screen.

I would like to know if this can be done with anyone while playing a game at the same time, because that would be great. Basically split-screen with anyone.

Like if your playing Battlefield online with a friend, instead of constantly communicating your position and what you're doing via mic, you could possibly just use the screen-stream feature and see what they see on the side.

This could also be great for fighting games, if you're in the practice lab and want a buddy to chime in on some tech you've found.

Im still not sure if it works like this though, or if the PS4 has a similar feature. But its stuff like that, even more than games that gets me hyped for the next gen.

Where's the argument if the games will "Run just fine on either console"? If both consoles are mirror images of each other, what sets them apart? In individuality, features, and capability, Xbox has it imo. Your opinion may differ, and I respect that. lol

The reason I bring up specs is that it seems to be the only counter argument PS4 players have when approached with this subject.

I'm going to try and not sound biased in this, but many will have issues with what I say about XB1, to be clear there are way more issues presenting themselves about the system that bothered me and its not even about the gaming aspect of it.

Fisrt of all I can't trust a company that will do that many 180s, for all it tells me is they can just 180 the 180s anyway. The blatant arrogance and disregard for the core audience of the system was atrocious. They literally tried to remove your right to the first sale doctrine with the original policies, sorry I am very pro-consumer and to the average consumer their original policies likely wouldn't have gone over well. Their former CEO blatantly not only disrespecting those that cannot have internet access, but also disrespecting the military men and women, I am veteran and when he said that comment about the sailor that asked about his issue with being on a nuclear sub, with a response of just buy a 360, was not only asinine, but a huge slap to our service memebrs' faces. There whole Kinect thing is naother issue, the past patent filed and the issue of this always listening and on camera is bothersome to the average consumer, which then we already heard the thinga about NSA, just doesn't sit well.

They have been caught red-handed using money to pay off jounalists to give only good things to say about the system and they even placed embargos on things such as releasing what resolution a game will be in. It is actually easy to see this just by watching two vlogs with Adam Sessler, where in one he claims that 1080p should be the standard in the next gen games and then later on he says that resolution and graphics isn't important at all.

The resolution thing is my other problem and even though many will say its all about the games and not the graphics, I'm sorry I have to fully disagree in the case of buying a next gen console. currently nearly if not all games run in 720p between 30 - 60fps, nearly all launch titles for the XB1 are all running at 720p and 30-60fps, except Ryse which I believe is 900p and 30fps. If all these games are not all moving up in a very graphical manner where is the incentive to buy a new console, graphics and look is typically always the main determination on buying a new console, its mainly why 360 really dominated since the PS3 had issues running games in the beginning.

Finally the day 1 update patch is already available for the PS4 for buyers to download prior to launch so they can likely ease some issues with network traffic and if you don't get this update right away you can at least play the games you bought. XB1 no internet congrats on your $500 brick/paperweight, or w/e analogy you like to use.

These are just some problems I have with the system, I do know Sony has had issues too, but nearly in all those cases MS continued shoot themselves in the foot.

If anyone is buying the XB1 more power to you though, I hope it does well and is an enjoyable experience, but me I will only support those that treat the consumer with a lil more dignity rather then a full out piggy bank. Before anyone in here wants call this fanboyism fine, or come out and scream about how Sony only cares for money, yep your right, but they had the descency to at least think about consumers first before trying to force feed their idea of the future they want.

This feature has been confirmed for the Box. So long as you allow the person access.

Even with the specs argument, while many complained about the 720p upscaling to 1080p on xbox one and ps4 running 1080p natively, xbox one had zero frame rate drops while ps4 had them when combat got hectic.

Their initial approach was a gamble to shake up the Console wars. The fact that they 180'd showed that they listen. Trust me, reprogramming the boxes cost them bucks, but they did it anyway. To make the consumers they angered, happy. Even with this tho, the consumers still found ways to complain. Being unbiased about the situation, you have to look at actions taken, and not let emotion fuel your comments.
