What's new

I have an elgato but the software doesn't work?

I would like to live stream from PS3 with my elgato but the software dedicated towards it is not supported on anything older than Windows 7.
I hear you can use xsplit to stream with an elgato, but I believe you still need Windows 7 or better?
My laptop is running windows vista so if there is anyway I can get it up and running I would greatly appreciate your advice.
Thanks <3

Yes you can use xsplit with the Elgato. I haven't tried it on anything besides Windows 7, but it works perfectly there. I love the software it comes with.

I personally run it off of my Macintosh, but from what I noticed I had to set the entire thing up to a separate port and now I can't play the game unless my capture program is on. :/

you're like the old lady who calls and says "My computer won't work. When i push this button it won't turn on."

when in fact... her freaking monitor was off.

If your machine is running Windows vista, chances are its very old.

You're going to need to upgrade, since these f*ing hardware makers refuse to give Linux support- but make sure before you spend the money, that you're laptop can actually handle the heavy-load of Windows 7/8 AND the system requirements of the capture software as well.

is there an inexpensive way to do so?
Basically you install windows (which you can do from microsoft's website, they give all versions of Windows 7 to install... the catch is validating it). To validate it there are programs out there (which I can't post out in the "public") that basically tricks windows into thinking its valid.
