So I watched the last episode (that would be only 4 anyways) of Pokemon The Origin. I'm upset and pleased all at once.
I'm pleased because the show really didn't go out of its way to be child-friendly. It allowed cussing, violence, and intense moments to be included. In short, it was a typical anime lol not a Saturday morning cartoon kind of show. Sorry, Red was much cooler than Ash. I also liked the visuals, they really did a good job animating and coloring and designing the whole show. It looked like Pokemon...but it looked different still, enhanced. I thought it was also great that they did the show based after the game instead of some stupid story-as-we-go storyline. Red actually earned his badges through battles, not gimmicks. The Pokemon didn't show their names either, the made animal sounds, because they're animals.
I'm upset because as great as it was, they really limited themselves by only doing four episodes. There was so much that they could have covered if they would have tried harder and put in the extra effort. There's so much story in the Red/Blue Pokemon games. I really have my fingers crossed that this four episode special was a test to see how well it would be received. I would really love to see them pump out a full fledged series based after this anime. Come on, stop being half hearted in this! There is a fanbase waiting for a good Pokemon show. Kids are not the target group only for Pokemon series. Grown men play these games, especially grown men who grew up playing these games lol i.e. myself!
But anyways, I know we weren't talking about Pokemon, I just wanted to rant. Also, this was pretty awesome:
EDIT: IF YOU ARE GOING TO DO A FOUR EPISODE MINI SERIES: Make the episodes an hour long instead of the standard 20 minutes. K, I think I'm done.
