In praise of the new patch

New patch! Cheers, tears, confusion and excitement all over. But one adjustment coming to the game isn't getting all the props it deserves. Interactables will be able to give audio cues when approached.

This missing feature was mentioned by @OBS_Rattlehead, our blind Cyrax player on twitter a few weeks ago. I'm a big fan girl of his, and after EVO I was inspired to ditch my headphones and play with the sound on. Hearing all the grunts, pings and clashes really helped me get timing and space right to drop fewer combos! <3

So, love or hate the upcoming patch, this new feature is a very welcome addition. It makes me happy NRS listened to the fans and made the game more accessible. And I hope we get to see Rattlehead rocking out at tourney again soon!

It's to be expected really. Everyone is excited about new changes for characters, which I admit, I am as well. However, thank you for bringing this to attention! This feature will definitely put me in the same position as my sighted counterparts now, so I don't have excuses to improve my level of play. And although it's not the same, I have an online training partner to help me level up. I didn't have that in MK9 until I started attending my local scene.
can't wait to start using Scorpion again! 1man3letters

Apparently Scorpion can now deal at least 40% midscreen with one bar only.

Could you confirm this?

Also, like I posted on my twitter about the sound cues, it's awesome how it differs depending on which player is near an interactible. if you're player 1, the cues have a lower pitch and if you're player 2 and are near an object, the pitch gets higher. Nice attention to detail if you ask me.

The audio cue does get annoying on atlantis though cause throughout most of the stage you are always near an interactable.

without a jump in and no stage bounces(atlantis throne etc) max that works on all cast currently midscreen is 39% (43% with j2)
also thats with 1bar+trait :D
