Capture Card Advice

I'm gonna make this skill gap... disappear.
Hey guys,
I'm looking into getting a capture card to start recording some better quality tutorials and gameplay on the Xbox 360. I see some that seem good for around 120-160 on Amazon, and then alot of cheaper ones and such. I figured I should get a good one because I can also use it for other things, so I wanted to see if anyone had any advice for what the best option out there is. Any help you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Personally i use an Elgato Game Capture HD , small , easy to set up , can record in HD , works with both Xbox and ps3 and it's around 130 bucks.

You can use the elgato software or Xsplit ( preferred ) both are good.

Avermedia has some good ones too tho.

I would Check out the pages of some big youtube channels and see if any of them have a coupon code for a capture card.

Hmmm. Cool, thanks. How much data/time do these generally hold?

That depends how many GB your PC has , they're not stand alone capture cards with their own HD to storage , you plug em to your Xbox to the pc and have the software do the record / streaming / editing.

If you want a portable capture card i know there's one from elgato too but i don't know how thats called , might want to search that in the elgato site.

You can never go Wrong with a HD PVR personally, they're good pieces, The Elgato's are a good make, along with that I wouldn't go with the Roxio, it's not all the promotion makes it out to be.

There's another really good make at a similar of these but For the life of me I can't remember it's name sorry

Alright awesome, so there are cards that you use to stream directly to PC and some that have their own storage. That alone helps me as well. Sounds like Elgato is a good brand from what you guys are saying, so I'll check that out. Thanks fellas!

Ooo that one's pretty... haha yeah I've seen Avermedia stuff being promoted as well. I'll add that to the list of things to check out. Does anyone have any opinion on Hauppauge? I've seen them coming up alot on message boards, but they seem more expensive and it sounds like their software is goofy.
