Ever have a good Bane player get in on you? Its a fucking nightmare getting him to stop after that. Bane's not a free ride, but he is definitely someone with firepower capable of wrecking things so dont knock them entirely simply because people tried to claim Bane was anything lower than a mid tier up until recently.

That said this thread doesn't really say anything, but at least folks are now panicking because a top player called them out but didn't just hand them a new thing to parrot as great. Most times these threads go as a top players proclaim the new top tier and then folks chime in that its right, at least this thread is forcing others to find their own answers and draw their own conclusions. Maybe now folks will dig a bit deeper through characters and discover who has potential based on tools rather than internet popularity.

Im a strong believer in Hawkgirl , Flash, Batgirl, and Wonder Woman as cast that will one day rise up the tourney ladders. Revolver made everyone take a look at Lex and we've had a few instances of Harley, Bane, and Ares players showing up to turn heads. Hopefully, if nothing else, this thread gets the boards re-evaluating some character's potential that have been overshadowed currently by easier rewards elsewhere in the game.

I know, right? Bane's armor covers his start up and gains him advantage and frame traps. Once you learn what those frame traps are and how to end stuff to setup his crazy reset/crossup game all over again it becomes really apparent that this is a threatening character if played properly. You can ding him up all day, but he lands one combo and not only does he make it all back plus more in a lot of cases, but then he has gained the advantage of putting you at his feet forcing a completely uphill struggle to get him off of you again. Definitely a comeback character. Im expecting folks will try to counterpick Bane soon after they learn the matchup.

Lol yah man, BiPolar whipped my ass, even though I didn't play it well enough and was pretty drunk lol. I don't use that as an excuse. He murders Arrow up close. And BiPolars Venom use and timing is just really good. Not putting yourself in shitty situations when it Debuff. Bane scares me.

If you have a Bane in grand finals, your scene doesn't play any top tier characters, or is extremely outclassed by that Bane player. Not sleeping on the character, just being realistic to the fact that he has some unwinnable match ups. Keep in mind I say this as a Doomsday main.

Bane scares me too. The shit I see in those boards...crossovers reversing your inputs on wakeup, wakeup suffocation, crossups, splat stand resets, lvl 3 damage combos, and moments where you use the autocorrect on his super to grab teleporters out of their shit. Poor Scorpion...his super tried so hard to hit Bane.

He has bad matchups just like everyone else but nothing is unwinnable for a guy with damage that high, armor, and wakeup crushing as his toolset. If he has full bars on last round its damned near over with his damage output if he gets in on you and pops armor. One wrong guess and you lose off a touch is how he plays. Quite often Bane just takes most of his offense all at once to win a match. He doesn't play like the rest do in that regard.

In this version of the game a Bane player will never beat a Superman of the same skill level. 1 button and Bane is fucked. And Superman can do that every 6 seconds. I know how Bane works, everyone can stop trying to explain him to me. I'm not underestimating Bane. Bane is a good character, but he's not good enough to get to grand finals of a tournament without significant outplaying. It can happen, I see Tyrant do it almost every week with Grundy. But it's extremely unlikely due to the skill gap you'd need.

Agreed though that you can't go in on Bane and suddenly be Godlike. Just look at rounds 2 and 3 where KDZ turns it around just like you said he would. Skill matters to be sure in any matchup and KDZ showed that he is the best in the world for a reason, but even the best in the world decisively lost a round to Bane by only a few mistakes made vs someone who knew how to use him. You have to respect that about people who play him and Grr is no slouch with him. He's a mid tier and one that requires work. Nothing more, but nothing less and I respect those who know how to use him and dont just chalk up their wins to bad opponents or weak scenes.He's a good guy to throw out in matchups and he has potential to do things.

I believe in him and dont laugh at scenes that have him going through their tournies.

To me that says they have smart players if they are capable of utilizing him, like Dieminion did with Guile. You cant just make a judgment call on a territory's players because they have players that can use rarer cast. Bane can win in any country if he has a good player using him right. He doesn't require bad opponents to win just getting in and he has armor and the best dash in the game. He trades to get in to be sure, but thats how he works and if they got players that can use him then they worked to do it.

KDZ looked like he had never fought a Bane before, but he absolutely dominated in the last two games because it took him that long to figure out how to beat Bane. Plus, that video was from July.

I mean sure, if an area has none of Bane's bad matchups present, or the players playing his bad matchups aren't that strong/don't run into him then it's entirely possible for him to win. The US just has lots of people playing Superman/Black Adam/Batman/GL shutting down weaker characters that have to work hard against those characters. Having a Bane in grand finals doesn't prove that Europe is weaker or stronger than the US, or that they are more knowledgeable/better. It just means a Bane made it to grand finals, over a strong character that most would expect to see from most scenes.

I don't think anybody is trying to say it's impossible to win with Bane, but more that it's peculiar seeing him that high in a tournament over strong characters that have been dominating everywhere.
