Breaking Bad (SPOILERS!)

What is your opinion on the conversation over the phone with Walt and Skyler? What do you think Walt's motivation was in that scene?
Panic and anger and him leaving the baby at the firehouse was basically him admitting defeat and rightfully so. Hes completely lost his family and everything he cares about (or pretends to care about) he has nothing which as you may remember is how i said the show should end. Im dreading these last 2 episodes as i fear the writers are gonna shove some half assed lame go out out with a bang redemption garbage down our throats so the misguided people who watch this show can have their Scarface ending. Series should have ended with this episode.

I believe Harvey Dent said it best, "uncle jack is just a mad dog, i want whoever let him off his leash".
LOL he also said "you either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain." Look how that turned out for dent. At least for Walt it's looking like he's going to have a redeeming moment in the end.

That doesn't answer any of the questions I asked.

What was your perception of the motivation behind that phone call?

There is nothing he can do to redeem himself. Vengeance =/= redemption.

Panic and anger like i said. He was pissed Walt jr now knew everything and he wanted skylar to know it so he called her. The rest of the conversation was a paniced Walt casting blame and exhibiting his trademark douchebag pride. But the motivation of the call was anger, anger at skylar for telling walt jr and anger at himself for letting it come to this (which he tried to divert onto Skylar).

Walt will neither die a hero or live long enough to become the villain (since he already was the villain.)

he called and knew the cops were there.. he confessed to everything basically so skyler could be free

He may have knew the cops were there but he definitely didnt confess so skylar could be free. He made it clear on the call she knew for a long time which would make her a conspirator plus the money laundering. Nothing Walt said would get skylar off the hook i dont know how you could come to that conclusion . Her only chance is to completely roll on walt and testify should it come to that.

I disagree with everyone who thinks Walt is going to go save Jesse...

I think Walt is going to KILL Jesse.

They both took everything in the world away from each other...Walt let Jane die, poisoned Brock, and gave the nazis Brock and his mothers location.

Jesse rolled on Walt and ratted him out to the DEA. You NEVER rat. It costed Walt his brother in law as well as his blood family.

If Walt had any sympathy for Jesse left he wouldn't have revealed his location to the Natzis. The only reason he did was because he wanted him dead. Uncle Jack was paid to kill him, and when Walt finds out the blue is still on the market he is going to go back and try to finish him and the nazis off. He has nothing to lose.

i think the anger part was fake and that he didnt mean a word he said on that conversation it wasnt panic or anger imo but another calculated move 2 sort off get skylar free by confessing and make her and everybody he cares for hate him

But do you honestly think after everything Jesse is just going to let him save him? If anything Walt will save him only to get a bullet in between the eyes from Jesse.

He just stole a baby and was the reason hank was dead, the phone call was unecessary if the goal was to get everyone to hate him.

I agree with you. When I watched it I was kinda confused like why is he being such a dumbass...but I think it was all intentional as an effort to try to fully implicate himself, and distance his family from the ensuing legal chaos that is presumably about to take place. He obviously knew the police were going to be there as Walt Jr. called them right before he bolted out with Holly.

How do you not see the "goal" of the call

I feel like you let it slip by you.... which sucks. I know why Morty asked you for your opinion.... it makes alot of sense now.

The real point of the call bounced off of you because you simply don't see the "redeeming" qualities that Walt tries to bring to the table. Rather you simply took it for face value.

I do, however, agree that he TOOK Holly out of spite and anger.
Then she wanted her mom, and things changed.

How does that phone call at all distance his family from ensuing legal chaos? Once investigated it will be clear Skylar was somewhat complicit not to mention the money laundering. That phone call did nothing to distance his family, skylar only choice is to roll on and if need be testify against Walt.

Because in the phone call he makes it clear skylar knew what was going on, which implicates her not helps her. If the goal is to get them to hate him why make the phone call at all they clearly already hate him.
