Really, in SH is there a difference between the two?
Silent Hill is trying to cure you if trauma either by taking your inner demons from a troubling past and turn them into real monsters to confront so you can accept what happened, get over it and move on or just kill you. Either way you'll find peace.

It's fucked up but in a weird way the town and it's power is an anti-hero, it actually does work as pretty much every character who leaves the town in the Good endings of the games looks like a huge weight has been lifted off their shoulders.

The town is playing doctor.

But if we wanna look at it like hell I guess we could say.

Nomral world: Oddly never seen in the games except for in the end. People live here and go about life normally, weird events are minor = normal world.

Fog world: Fewer, weaker monsters. Less weird crap and dangers = purgatory.

Otherworld: Monsters are stronger, more common, more dangerous weird events and enviroments = Closest you can get to Hell without actually being hell.

I just 100%'d Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward.

This game is definitely one of those "If I had a Vita/3DS, it'd be so I can play this" games imo. Great psychological survival horror puzzle game with a really deep story that will fill you with all sorts of emotions, music that sets the tone perfectly, and characters you'll find yourself caring about/despising within minutes. If you have either a 3DS or Vita, I highly recommend getting this game and experiencing it for yourself. It's pretty damn good.

I was kinda joking with the original comment, hell I've played every SH released thus far, even the bad ones, though ask me to remember anything not from 2 and I'll be a bit foggy. *ba-dum-tsh*

Don't mind me, I'm just going off on another tangent.

I hate being OCD. Why couldn't I get something cool like photographic memory?

Minor OCD or really bloody rediculous OCD?
I'm the first, IE if I have nothing better to do, organizing time.
