Creating a new Scene!

PTG Slayer

Behold! The GOD of War!
Because of the lack of game hubs in my area, I've decided to dedicate most if not all of my free time to creating one. I have about 9 friends who wishes to do the same. Only problem is, we have no idea as to how to go about doing so. SO, I come to TYM, for advice on what is needed.

-What kind of budget? How much would hardware, space rental, and advertisement cost?
-Where? What kind of places should I look for when it comes to renting it out?
-Who? Is it better to have a lot of people helping out? Or should I go for a smaller crowd, to keep control?

Discuss please!

P.S.- Injustice will be the center game! ^_^

Are you looking to host casuals, run a stream, throw tournaments?

If you already know of 10 players that are looking to play, I would say you are at a really good starting point.

We started our AZ scene when Mortal Kombat dropped and it has evolved quite a bit. Try to grow your own scene without feeling the need to pull from other communities (ie: SF4, UMvC3, etc.)

If those players have interest, they will show up once you have something going.

We used to throw tournaments every other week at a card shop that had a lot of space. I would say the most important thing is consistency and advertising.

If you need help with learning how to set up a stream, let me know I can help.

- Stream PC ($800+)
- Capture Card ($150)
- At least 2 consoles (PS3 or X360, $250)
- Asus Monitor (2 x $150)
- Venue (Include venue fee if necessary, or offer some benefit (ie: customers) to the venue).

For venue's I would look towards something like:

- Card Shop
- Lan Center
- Comic-Book Shop
- Arcade

If you are running a stream, ensure that the venue has an internet connection.

Awesome info. I'm looking to run some tournies, stream it up, and include a prize pot. Money is not an issue. My hardest challenge in my area would be successfully streaming (HD, little to no lag). And finding a spot.
