hi tym,
i dont understand y for some strings that start with the same input the frame data reported on start up is different. For ex, say i'm using batgirl: 11 string has a start up of 6 frames, where the 113 string has a start up of 18 frames; y? it should be the same, right?
i'm sure u guys can explain this easily to a noob like me, thx every1 for replying,it's much appreciated.

It's telling you the startup for the last hit of the string only.

So for Batgirl you have 113:

The first 1 is 7 frames. The second 1 is 6 frames (listed under 1,1) and the 3 (listed under 1,1,3) has a startup of 18 frames.

Since the second 1 is -1 on block, there is a 19 frame gap that you can poke out of (18+1). If you have a 7 frame normal, that gives you 12 frames (19-7) to interrupt the 3.

I don't think you are taking in account the cancel advantage for 11 in calculating the gap between it and 3. Unfortunately no data exists for the cancel advantage frames.

there is no cancel advantage if you don't cancel the string into a special. 1,1~Flying Bat has cancel advantage, 1,1,3 does not.

There is kancel advantage. It's not the same as into specials but technically you're kanceling the recovery of 11 into the last hit which is 3.. That's why there's no gap in the string even though the start up for the last hit is fairly slow.

Hmm, you guys are right on the cancel advantage. I just tested it. There is a gap in 113 though, you can backdash the 3, but you can't poke out.

Similar to Batman's 113 then...

His you kould poke out with some characters though. Oddly enough not in mirrors.

In frame data for a string, the "startup" is the startup of the last move in the string. In this case the "3" in 113 is 18f.

If you want to know the startup of the first move, you have to look up the data for the move it starts with.
now it's all clear. it just didnt make sense before! thx man

got another question: lets always take batgirl as an ex; 3 has a block advatange of 3, how does it become 5 after 113?

It's basically a kompletely different normal.

Just because you're pressing the same button doesn't mean it's the same move.

Moves have different animations, startup, active, and recovery frames if they are the second or later move in the string. If its the first normal in the string it will always have its same look in value. Get it? Let's take gl as an example. My stand 2 is 10 frames, +13 on hit and -9 on block. And it will always be that way. When I do 2,2 a completely different normal comes out that you can't access unless I do that string. This move has completely different data.

Put it this way, all your "basic attacks" have their own set of data. A lot of those normals start your strings. whenever you want to know how fast your string starts up or whatever, just look up the "basic attack" it starts with.

With "combo attacks" just see it this way, whatever the last move in the string is, is where the data applies. New normals are given to your character when they are the second attack or later in the string. these have new properties. THEY'RE JUST DIFFERENT OKAY. I didn't think this would be so hard to articulate but you get the idea I'm sure lol. I'm free to explaining.
