Injustice - AZ vs. CA Tournament & 5v5

Dojo Sports 5v5 League - West Coast Confrontation!

Injustice will be heating up this weekend, and we're not talking about the hot weather in Phoenix. A crew comprised of Southern California's top players will be converging on the desert to take on the best Arizona has to offer. Does the Cali crew know that it's monsoon season in the A-Z? The desert dwellers are ready to make it rain with the money they're looking to take from the SoCal crew.

The clash of two states begins tonight (Friday, August 16th) with casuals at 7PM and the tournament starting at 10PM PDT to welcome the out-of-state guests to AZ heat. The 5v5 event will kick off tomorrow (Saturday, August 17th) at 7PM PDT. Find all of the action on Team HazMat's Twitch channel: http://twitch.tv/teamhazmat

The California team consists of EGP_Krayzie, Wonder_Chef, PBoard Player, Red Reaper and Satsui Yes Hadou.

EGP Krayzie is known collectively for his work on the TYM staff, his Cyrax play in MK9 (with a 2nd place finish at SCR 2011 and a 9th place finish at Evo 2012), and more recently, for being one of the few notable Catwoman mains in Injustice. He’s maintained a strong presence at WNF since the game’s launch, and now he’s looking to expand his territory to AZ.

Wonder_Chef is perhaps better known for his feuds out of game than in-game, having spurred heated confrontations with Tom Brady, A Foxy Grandpa, and pretty much the entire UK scene. In spite of this, his Green Lantern is no joke, and he’s looking to prove that his bite is a lot worse than his bark. If he’s right, AZ is in for a world of pain.

PBoard Player put himself on the map when he took first place in MK9 at Northwest Majors in 2012, but he also made quite an impression at MLG Anaheim later that year, where he took REO down to the very last hit of a 3-2 set in the top 16. Over the course of his MK career, his frenetic style of play has become widely known, and it can make reading his actions an absolute nightmare. The chaos he brings to the equation could be a serious upset in the making.

Red Reaper brings an unknown factor to the Socal team. While he has yet to establish himself in the tournament scene, he also hasn’t traveled much, which makes it difficult to paint an accurate picture of his skill level. Whatever the case, he’s been a regular at EGP for a long time, and his teammates thought he was up to the job. Is this going to be his breakout performance?

Satsui Yes Hado is the youngest member of EGP, who first became known for eliminating Shujinkydink at SCR 2011. In the second year of MK9’s tournament run, he started to make waves with his Kabal and Cage. Some of his training partners in Socal have claimed he has all the makings of a top player, and is not to be underestimated. Tonight, we’ll find out if he can make the same impression on the AZ team.

The Arizona team consists of Morty Seinfeld, King Hippo, Citizen Snips, Jowuh, and HazMat.

Morty Seinfeld was one of the first big breakout players in MK9, as part of the two-man wrecking crew that traveled from AZ to the east coast to topple the VSM giant, considered all but unbeatable at the time. They did exactly that, with Morty eliminating Maxter and RIU48 in the top 8 and teammate DetroitBallin taking the whole tournament. He’s been under the radar for a long time, but those who have played him since then have maintained that he’s still a serious threat. Counting Morty out is perhaps the biggest mistake that could be made for the EGP team.

King Hippo is perhaps the most polarizing figure on either team, having been the center of controversy on more than one occasion. He first gained notoriety for his ongoing disputes with Pig of the Hut, and later Claude Von Stroke. His haters got what they wanted when he failed to live up to the hype, both at Final Round 2012 and again at SCR 2013. More recently, however, Hippo traveled to WNF for an in-house tournament, where he was eliminated by Socal legend Tyrant and ultimately took 9th. In spite of his turbulent record at majors, his training partners in AZ have maintained he’s nothing short of phenomenal in his element, and unlike his past ventures, that’s exactly where he’ll be tonight. Socal should tread lightly if they intend to challenge Hippo on his home turf.

Jowuh won the PlayStation Battle All-Stars tournament at SoCal Regionals 2013 with his partner Kinetic Clash, with whom he also shares a strong Soul Calibur background. He has now shifted his focus to Injustice, bringing fresh blood to the scene and an unknown factor to the AZ team. If he can bring the same degree of success to Injustice that he’s had in his past games, he could easily be the dark horse of this exhibition.

HaZmat is a household name in the AZ scene due to his reputation as an established streamer, running the stream for a number of local events and also streaming regularly from his own home. He’s looking to make the jump from Capcom fighters to Injustice, and his Black Adam is a force to be reckoned with. If you hear a storm coming, it's not the monsoon rains, it's HaZmat.

CitizenSnips is the subject of more confusion than hype, commonly mistaken for an MK9 player of the same name who made waves early in the game’s lifespan. After tonight, it’ll be the other CitizenSnips who is mistaken for him, because he’s about to put himself on the map in a big way. Socal has no idea what they’re in for.

Hey, the time listed for the 5v5 tomorrow is wrong. It got pushed back until evening so that it's not overlapping with Summer Jam stuff

also considering what time I hear we are leaving, we probably won't get there until 10pm
Cole had told Haz you were leaving at 2pm, so that's where the 7pm time came from. If you haven't left yet that isn't happening. It shouldn't matter though. They obviously won't start the tournament until you guys get there, but Az guys should be there playing to keep the stream entertained until stuff actually starts.

Please post bracket when it becomes available. :)
I will when I know. I'm not there tonight but cali will be staying at the stream house fri, sat, sun and we have events scheduled every day plus casuals. So if you want something to do I imagine lots of casuals, 5 v 5's and tournaments this weekend here in AZ.

Seriously fuck whatever mod removed the ability for AZ to promote our streams on the side stream module. Nobody cares about peaceful jay and other random streams. There's a lot of good stuff going on on our streams and nobody knows about it.
