Do we want a walkspeed change in IGAU?

Do you think faster walkspeeds would make Injustice a better game?

A lot of people over the past 4 months have been talking about the walkspeeds being very slow and the game not having a traditional way to play footsies, in Injustice your main way of moving is dashes or special moves and walking is used only when really close or to space yourself so that your next dash is safe from attacks.

I wanna hear your thoughts because Netherrealm has shown us they can change things in the game, add new animations, make dashes and uppercuts faster etc. A huge patch will be coming and we don't know if Zatanna is the last DLC or if we'll have patch support after WB has milked all the DLC and costume pack money.

The time to speak is now, if you want something, say so and lets let Netherrealm know.

If it does I would rather them base the walkspeed on the characters playstyle and ability. For example grapplers should have faster front walkspeeds. Zoners should also have faster back walks(It may seem overkill with how good zoning is in this game but they would just be cornering themselves faster so idk)

I think a general speed up of everyones walks could lead to problems, but if anything that is what is probably going to happen.

Yes cornering themselves toward an unblockable interactable they can mb or something to jump off of. How wonderful

Lol, but then you get these situations where characters like Bane and Flash can shit on zoning. Idk, I just dont think an overall increase for everyones walks are the way to go.

If the characters in this game actually moved while walking, it could maybe be a game worth playing. You could have ACTUAL footsies.

NRS: See SF4 and SFxT walkspeeds for further study.

Walk speed buff would be great for batgirl.

Black Adam has one of the faster walk speeds and because of it, his walking backwards causes teleport to whiff (rather than be blocked). Teleport recovers much faster on whiff essentially making batgirl have a safe tele.

I'd like a universal buff more'so on FORWARD WALK SPEED.

If they do universally buff back walk speed I hope it's not nearly as much because I feel it'll be a detriment to the game more than an actual improvement for some characters in particular. But yea, a huge universal forward walk speed buff would be fucking amazing for this game considering most normals have baby range compared to F23 on Superman and B13 on Green Lantern.

I am for it, but if they do go about doing it, I really hope they test the shit out of it before they make any final decisions on it.

A knee jerk buff could make the game even worse.

The soul of every good 2D fighting game can be defined in one word.

Spacing.

In good 2D fighting games, high level play revolves around knowing the range of your opponents moves, and your moves, and controlling your spacing so that you minimise your risk while maximise your offensive opportunities.

A good game allows you to play this game to the fullest, and explore all it's subtleties.

That's why decent anti airs are a must- because jumps that are unpunishable threaten to nullify the entire ground spacing game, and significantly reduce the potential spacing games that players can play.

By that same measure, walk speeds are important, because walking gives players the most precise and safe way to control their spacing.

So increasing walk speeds, just like buffing anti airs, is one of those adjustments that, done properly, will make IJ a better game by enriching the spacing games that players can play.

Voted yes.

Though, to clarify my position, I want to see FORWARD walkspeed increased, but not backwards walk speed. Especially considering you hold back to block, this would be very irritating if being ready for a wakeup put me out of footsies range accidentally.

if they up walkspeed then they have no excuse not to give ds his old guns back.

Some characters should not have good walkspeeds, see sagat and Makoto in sf
With Sagat and dhalsim, I think capcom followed a simple common sense rule- the more space a character controls, the harder it should be for him to control his spacing. It's a good rule, and nrs tried to apply that to green lantern.

Makoto is something else, lol.
