What's new

The absolute RIDICULOUSNESS of tournament settings now...

The devs themselves have been on record saying this game was meant to be 3/5...so whats the holdup? Stage selection issue...the only fair option is random at all times.

I'll provide some evidence --

This was said just in recent month --

i said several times the the damage output and gameflow was always intended for 3/5. 2/3 also doesn't give much time to download an opponent in a game where rounds do not reset things.

feel free to be stubborn and believe you know better tho.

This was said back before the game releaed --

the speed of the game will be pretty obvious in a couple of weeks. Things were sorta designed with first to 3 in mind as the blowups will come fast and hard but this will sorta itself out right away and might evolve over time.

I'd also be wary of plstyle fakeout button checks to reset the stage when a favorable one doesn't show up at first lol

For stage rules why don't we follow the 3D games and just random each match? Nobody picks a stage, just characters.
The NRS community was too young and dumb not to realize this right away when zoning characters starting picking large stages and rushdown characters started picking small stages. In every other game that has different size/type of stages that favor certain character types, random has always been the standard. Why we don't do this is beyond me...

See, if NRS didn't have gimmick ass stages that could change MU numbers, then we wouldn't worry so much about that.

No reason to argue with 3/5 in my opinion other than due to time constraints. Huge majors like TFC have very strict scheduling and there's no telling how out of hand 3/5 could get. As for stage, I actually really enjoy the EVO rule for stages.

Edit: I really don't understand why people hate interractables so much. I personally have no problem with them. People are finding really unique ways of dealing with them as well.

I have a keen eye for all things broken.
3/5 and ban interactables! They are so cheap, I guarentee people would have more fun without them.

Every match should be 50/50 stage select. Why let the loser get Free stage advantage just because he lost? Especially for majors, where every match is crucial. Giving someone Free stage advantage is pretty stupid

3/5

First stage 50/50 (because you know the "random" stage when you pick your character and can counter pick based solely on that! Bullshit!!)

Loser picks character OR stage.

This makes the most sense.

3/5
Loser picks stage or character.

Note: I would like to see a few tournaments without interactables, to see what kind of difference it would make.

I WILL EAT THIS GAME
3 out of 5. Without a doubt.

Indifferent to Stage rules, or stages in general. My lineup = 3 power characters and Deathstroke. I'm good.

Cannot pick a stage which you have already won on in the same set.

This encourages stage variety and makes the game fairer. You can't true random in this game because as you're picking your characters you get to see what the stage is.

Smash (arguably the fighting game where stage plays the biggest factor) does not do random every time. Counter picking is an important component of any fighting game. The fact that certain stages favour certain match ups isn't necessarily a bad thing, it adds another dimension to the game and makes injustice unique.
