Where in my post did I say any of that? I'm saying it like it is. Where did I say it was justified? And yea, you CAN tell me "FUCK YOU, YOU'RE STUPID XBOX IS BETTER" . That was MY point. My point was simply that you had the right to.

I didn't say that was what you were saying, I was referring to what the thread is about, the video is clearly stating how people ACT on their opinions, not for simply just HAVING a different opinion.

^^^^This I also agree with 100%.

The very first point the guy in the video makes about the FGC being divided into little sub communities is right on point, and honestly thats what bothers me the most, more than any other thing he mentions. Not that there are sub communities, but the way in which the different communities look at each other. I mean, I have been to my share of FGC events and I have been going to different forums over the years, TYM, SRK, Eventhubs, Dustloop etc and Yo, lol, the amount of hate, and shit that gets thrown around by each community is really sickening smh. IMO, If you are a supporter of the FGC, and truly want to see it grow, you wouldnt shit on and try to discourage other players from playing other fighting games that you dont like for whatever reason.

I'm sure we all understand that people have the right to an opinion, regardless of it's merits or lack thereof. We are simply criticizing the character of those who wish to behave in such a primitive and hostile manner. You are making a point, but it's not the subject of this discussion.

We get it, trust us. Just like we get that companies have the right to outsource jobs, but we criticize the nature of that behavior.

I saw your initial post as a justification of the hostile opinions and attitude people have. I never said people didn't have the right to bash others' opinions, I was simply criticizing its demeaning nature.

Well as a avid fighting game fan and minor member of the FGC, as well as Ex-Military I have ONE thing to say to everyone involved in this outdated and immature behavior... The color of the skin doesn't matter the games we play don't mater becasue underneath we all bleed RED and we all LOVE the games we play! R.E.S.P.E.C.T. ...sing it, practice it and the FGC will grow and (hopefully) some day even earn status, prize money and RESPECT like the MLG so many FGC members want! Then we could have Televised events on SPIKE TV (as an example) and have people recognized around the globe! Now tell me...Wouldn't THAT be HYPE?!

Some things that NEED to happen IMO for these things to happen is...
1. No using disrespectful language or actions at events. Violators are given ONE warning then ejected from the ENTIRE event. No Excuses No Refunds!
2. Team members are NOT allowed on stages during Finals. It can be very distracting and is unfair to opponents who use only their own skill and insight to win.
3. We REALLY NEED a standard Tournament Format, that all TOs need to abide by. Make it a STANDARD thing that also includes the list of player conduct.
4. FGC web sites should be organized and managed as such. Perhaps form an organization by top-players and TOs that gives "Seals of Approval" to web sites that follow the FGC guide-lines like not allowing trolls to troll and people post things that make the FGC look bad.

These are just some things that have actually been on my mind quite a while, and after seeing this post and replies I figured I'd just through this out there... PROMOTE THE HYPE NOT THE GRIPE!

I agree on everything he said about the crapcom guys, but to be honest this community is as horrible as they are. 90% of the people here bombarded and laughed at Melee being at EVO, showing no respect whatsoever.

And to be completely honest, the popularity of Streamed games has given exposure to how fucked up the people in gaming communities are. Back then you'd think that competitve gamers were just nerds that play a game 24/7 and whatnot. Now that every gamer dickhead knows who player "X"s real name is, where he's from, his family, friends...everything. The true face of the community comes out when you go to these streams and you see people act like idiots on stream. And the stream monsters...the stream monsters... seeing these "stream monsters" behave like the worst type of person you can think of, racism, sexism and just being overall inappropriate dickstain example of human beings, it just makes you regret supporting this damn community.

Your right... but I think his point still stands considering ONLY Marvel beat it in total views. Not even Street Fighter beat Melee.

I was introduced into the FGC using Super smash bros melee as a gateway. I had zero interest in competitive fighting before hand despite playing mortal kombat on the sega genesis. they were EXTREMELY welcoming to me, they housed strangers, gave newbies tips, encouraged people, gave shout outs to strangers in threads to make them feel welcomed.

Even though at this time smash was seperated from the FGC, It had enough mechanics in it that it should be considered a fighting game. It made me interested in OTHER fighting games.


I finally convinced one of my friends to try going to a tournament after explaining to him how cool it was. His first tournament was not the same experience. I teamed with him, even though he's really noob (In SSBM) and some guy trashed talked his Dr.Mario. He shrugged it off at first, but then he kept being smug, held up the tournament while he went to go eat out and the TO didn't disqualify him.

This guy then wonders why there is no scene in his town. Well it's because he trashes other people with his opinions that are ugly in nature. IF we just let this behavior run rampant we'll scare off all potential people to enter the FGC. Btw my friend, hasn't went to a tournament sense, That one guy was enough to deter him.


It's a shame the FGC can't just unite and respect that someone LIKES another game that isn't your own. you don't have to like their game, but why can't you just end it at "It's not my thing. But glad you like it."

and leave it at that. Unless of course someone asks you "why don't you like it?" Then you can prompt a debate.

I already tried to get past it, if you would've seen me talking about editing it out of my post as well. follow your own advice maybe? I'll admit I didn't see your response, I was multitasking, not an valid excuse but it's why it happened.
