What is going on guys, Ya Boi Zyphox here.
too bad they are out of stock atm =[. i needed a new one and tried yesterday
there are these new 360 pads with an adjustable dpad. those are actually really nice.
this is really sick. i would need to try out out first but i would look into this.
i have a scuf controller with adjustable silver dpad and its not that good imo, unless i have to break it in, but i have trouble with the bf motions because its stiff. when doing combos with the flash LK trait combos, sometimes it doesn't register the down motion in df1 and thats a huge problem, maybe once i break it in (i've had it since march) then it will but its overrated at least when i use the flash. every other character i use i can do everything with except for the freakin flash........

I've been down this road and kind of still am.
Bought several controllers to feel fully comfortable with my controller but I have never been.
I've used the 2 different Xbox 360 controller, both have the same issues for me(happens a little bit less with the adjustable d-pad): down into forward/back inputs turns into jump, ...

Next to that I bought the Razer Onza where the D-pad buttons are separated, they were too big and just very unconformable to play with but it seemed like the way to go until the left thumbstick broke after 2-3 months. Kept registering inputs to crouch or jump.
After that the Razer Sabertooth came out, same concept except the buttons were way smaller and looked really good. It took some time getting used to the controller because the d-pad buttons go really deep and DF/DB inputs were failing a lot. It did not allow me to play with Skarlet because her dagger cancel inputs kept failing a lot, but other than that it was good for any other character. And then the right arrow of the d-pad kept getting stuck on the faceplate and popping back out after a while, not registering the input but def a nuisance.

I've been playing the MK and Injustice with a PS3 pad for a good while now, even though it feels very weird for me to play with PS3 controller. It does not feel natural to me and causes me to sometimes miss d-pad inputs and for some reason doing BF inputs on the left side works 80% of the time. With Injustice inputting Flying Grayson fails too much when playing NW. I can only play with a PS3 pad for a few hours.

Recently I said fuck it and bought the MLG controller, boy was that a mistake... The d-pad is so fucking finicky, that you can do DU inputs with your left or right arrows of your d-pad. I'm not kidding around, you have to input in the center of the arrows or it will register an extra input. I got was jumping diagonally when inputting B1 or sometimes D1. That was a waste of money, I get it with both the D-pads that they include with the controller.

So that's why I've been thinking about getting an Hitbox. But I didn't do it because of the money but as it turns out I spent more on buying all these controllers than buying a Hitbox. Also a worry of mine is the fact that my hands are pretty small, playing with stretched out fingers all the time isn't very relaxing.

I tried a friends controller so I guess he broke it in for me. Felt really good.
Did you stop using stick?

I think Perfect Legend was complaining about the Afterglow in his twitter yesterday. Heard nothing but good about the MadCatz fightpad so I'd probably go with that just to be sure.

yeah, but i still use stick its kinda weird. i felt like once i switched 2 ps2 pad i leveled up alot, and most of the time i can do the same thing on stick, its just the movement like dashing up and doing directional normals and stuff that i wont use stick for flash. am kinda like PL i'll use stick for every other character but flash, i'll use pad instead. lol.

Hello TYM community!

Few days ago I bought Injustice, damn this game is amazing! I'm just a fighting games casual and today I decided to get better and become a competitive player.
I started to practice few characters in single player mode but it's very tough, even against the AI. However hard I was trying to perform some moves/combos I always failed (endless rage...). I play with the default xbox controller. I fixed it's d-pad with a piece of plastic but it's not really helping, still can't get combos, even in practice mode. I decided to buy some good fighting controller like MadCatz but I found nothing, even on the internet (it's difficult to get stuff like that where I live).
And there's my question, is it even possible to become a good player using the 360 controller? Do you know some? Or there's no hope for to get beyond the casual horizons (lol, I'm stupid). Thanks for your responses and have a nice day! Cheers.

ok bud here are some tips I learned from mk9 and injustice Know your combos well know the timing of them some you have to press fast others are calm and slow and a huge thing i have found with the 360 is how you sit into relation of how the controller is positioned the controller needs to be straight so that when you press down on the stick you are without a doubt going towards yourself (the player) if its off due to how you are sitting or otherwise you will be trying to to do down forward X for example but unknowing to you you are actually doing downleft down x just by the position of how you're holding the controller another key thing is even though there is chaos on screen the animation of each move are somewhat slow enough to where you can play with a very calm very relaxed demeanor so know your combos and chillax it will greatly improve your skill when you slow yourself down ....

hope that helps

another thing idk if it matters but i just switch from stick to d-pad depends on the move but it is smooth (for me ) when i bounce back and forth for when i need precision with something like back forward Y or down down Y = use d-pad for moves like down back X or down forward i use stick just feels cleaner to me but to each their own!

good luck

I saw it yesterday, these were all attempts over the past 2 years.
Not sure about the fix you posted, looks weird and uncomfortable.
Four separate buttons that are in in the same orientation as XYAB....yup that sure is weird! Hell, I don't even know how I use a pad it's so damn uncomfortable I tell you what.

zaf this is exactly my point.

BDMao88 I didn't ignore it at all but I didn't find the modification you are talking about. Today I bought the MadCatz pad and it seems like I can finally perform <> and ><. The pad is light, d-pad is very comfortable and ABXY buttons are very nice and easy to push. All I got to do now is to choose my main character and practice till my fingers bleed then I'll invade online games and beat the shiet out of you guys :) If someone wants to add me my XBL is Technizol but my subscription just ended so I will be able to play in few days.

Well if you enjoy the feel of that pad. I just had a simple solution for the dpad if you wanted to keep the xbox controller but just change the faceplate to have four separate buttons.

Sorry that I'm getting frustrated with you as I do with so many over such a simple solution but they are all scared to try something that isn't that expensive and you still have the xbox controller and it works perfectly.

Hey, I was in the same boat as you. I ended learning MK9 on that crappy 360 controller and did okay, but the controller still made too many mistakes for me. So I invested in a couple MadCatz Street Fighter x Tekken fightpads (available for $20 on amazon) as a replacement, and man they worked wonders. The D-pad is beautiful and the buttons are great. It allows me to play nearly any fighting game comfortably and well with little execution error that can be attributed to the controller. Grab one for 360 and for PS3 and you never have to worry about going to any tournament for fighting games again :)
