It's also a job for spooky, and his time and money are on the line when he takes his equipment somewhere to stream. Thousands of viewers; and he takes his job seriously and goes about it in a dedicated, professional way.

I can understand him being upset if people don't take Grand Finals of a marquee game seriously on his stream.

spooky really stepped over the line here and should apologize for this

1. its a video game... played FOR FUN
2. its a weekly
3. players are the one that decide who they play and when they play them... but i guess spooky feels that he decides who plays what character
What? You dumb as hell. It's Spooky's stream his call in the first place. I'm totally with Spooky here. He shouldn't have to apologize for shit. Not to mention streaming is his job. Spooky was completely in the right in doing what he did imo.

can you tell me exactly how what they did affected him/his 'job' in anyway? thousands of people already watched the stream... already saw whatever ads, will continue to watch, etc. etc.....that makes it ok for him to yank a cord out of a console like a child because he didn't like the characters they picked?

wow

also... the TYM staff censored the original title of this thread

If he let the match go on he would lose his job. Maybe your vocabulary isn't too large but theres a word called "collusion".
If "collusion" occurs on stream, he loses the job. They were colluding. He prevented it, saved his job, and told them they could do what they want but not on his stream.

this is the most delusional thing i've ever read... you can't be serious here

I don't think he should apologize. It's a slap to the face to organizers, spectators and sponsors who help the growth of the scene. Without them, players are nothing more than just kids playing a video game. They need to be respectful to not only them but to the spirit of competition. Respect the game.

He didn't even let them play 10 seconds into the round. He pulled the plug out of the console and did nothing but rage the rest of the stream, not even commentating on the matches going on, which is more disrespectful to the lesser known players.
He could have handled it professionally - which he by no means did. He unplugged the console, got up, and screamed at them to "Get the fuck out." Arturo later goes to say "The better players are at fighting games the stupider they are in real life." But then says the players are what are going to kill the FGC and keep them from going MLG.

Could someone post a recap of what happened? I'm on mobile and can't watch twitch archives
Chris G and Sanford picked different characters... Spooky didn't like the fact they picked different chracters so he yanked the cord out of the console and wouldn't let them play

these TO's and streamers...making their money off the people that come to these tournaments and play... making money off these guys... and now they are telling them what they can and can't do .... this blows my mind that anyone supports this

Um no, that's actually how things go. Madcatz doesn't condone people doing that on their streams, which Spooky is one of. I'd rather keep my job and prevent people from taking the piss on a grand final most people would prefer to be part of than allow people to collude on my stream and lose my job for it.

Athletes aren't allow to fix matches, and a lot of people get into uproars about it. Teams lose huge money and players lose their jobs for doing it, so why should this game be any different when money is on the line? If you are going to make a mockery of a tourney and everyone in it by not taking the finals seriously, then don't show up. Go play casuals on the side, but don't risk someone's job just so you can play grab ass with your good friend.

It's not the characters -- it's the way they were playing, plus the fact that they were laughing it up. He waited to see if they were going to take it seriously, and they did not (which was pretty clear to AE players), so he made a call.

Wait can you explain that better? He got mad because they used different characters? If that's all that was, then it's a stupid reason to rage.

It doesn't take more than 10 seconds to know when players are colluding, and its not just him but a lot of people who noted what was going on. Spooky is the only one who acted on it though.

Sanford doesn't play Balrog, I don't think he ever has. This isn't a "oh heres some secret tech" type business, this is a top player picking a character he knows nothing about in the grand finals where he should be using his main or a strong secondary. Chris G didn't use Yang at any point until then, why would him using it in the Grand Finals be seen as an average and normal thing when his Sakura would be the best choice?

And the fact that no officals stepped in to stop him tells a lot as well.
Spooky unplugged them, got them off the stream, and they probably went somewhere else to play. Simple as that.

If KDZ picked Lobo and DJT picked Joker in the Grand Finals at EVO, you can be promised someone would've pulled the plug really quickly. You don't disrespect people like that, it doesn't matter who you are. If you made it to the finals as Sakura, play Sakura. Don't play a character you have no actual experience with while giggling with your buddy on someone elses time and payroll.

uhh because arturo was yelling 'ahhh collusion collusion' in his ear next to him.... what you are saying doesn't matter, these players are now being abused... this used to happen in professional sports in the early 20th century... TO's and corporate money telling players what is and what isn't ok, when they are making money off them... and you support this
