Opinion on divekick / divekick-like moves?

How should all divekick / divekick-like moves hit?

You know..... just because there's a move in the movelist..... doesn't mean it has to be used for everything.
I'm well aware of that. However, I don't understand the reasoning of making certain divekick moves mid when all they do is knockdown or only grant a 20% combo. Whereas you have others that make for powerful traps, setups or combo opportunities.

In other words, some character get to have their cake and eat it as well.

It's all about variety.

Some D1s are lows and some aren't. You want all the D1s to be low too just to streamline everything? Of course not.

Take out Wing Evade 3 as an overhead and I can vouch for this. Batman's Dive Kick and Doomsday's EX Up Venom are hella negative in the first place...make them guess which direction to block.

Whoa whoa whoa..... what makes those moves so special to make an overhead but not WE3? I mean..... another overhead in WE doesn't really mean shit because there's no low or throw option out of it. And on block it's -1.

Batmans dive kick should be overhead. It's stupid that it can be blocked ducking.

I guess it was supposed to be used to bait AA's but the fact that it won't let you string from it on block doesn't make it in any way viable, it is absolutely pointless. Just remove it from the game if it doesn't get patched. Pointless.

Changing the timing of your landing is too big of a reward on its own in a SF style game where aerial approaches are higher-risk/higher-reward by design. (Faster mobility and evasive towards the horizontal attack vector on the ground, but sacrifices freedom of movement and the ability to block for roughly 1 second.)

So having good divekicks usually makes a game overall worse.

I personally think it's ridiculous how acrobatic character's divekicks can be blocked off of an interactable.
