Looking for a mentor

Well, I have pumped quite some time into MK, but I'm stuck at a very low level and I believe I can't really advance any further without someone who can help me. Geez, I don't even have a main, I'm just bouncing among my favourite 5-6 character and I don't really know any of them. I don't know how to get out of pressure for example... Well, I don't even know how to keep someone under pressure. I've been reading a lot and watching streams, but it just doesn't seem to do anything, so yeah, I need someone who is willing to help me. There's nothing wrong with getting a mentor, but before doing so, I would recommend that you figure out who you want to main. Narrow down 3 or 4 of the characters you play, learn their bnbs and start giving 'em a shot online - you're going to lose quite a bit, but that's okay. Play with TYM members, they won't give you crap and will point out what you need to work on, you'll get there eventually.

Certainly go in the trainer and practice your bnbs and setups before playing people. Once you've narrowed down the characters that you enjoy playing (this is the root of it, forget tiers, you have to enjoy the character to push through adversity) then look at the character forums. If there's a mentor in said forums, use him/her!

My 3 most used characters are Raiden, Liu Kang and Sub-Zero and I can do their 30 something % combos, but I just can't get in on someone whose a decent player. Actually I've been beaten by people who only do d4 to keep me away.

When i finally decided to main reptile i had around 30 wins and more than 100 losses. it took me a while but i go to a point of 150 wins and 220 losses but by keepin true to rep and practicing im now at 340 wins and 270 losses.. Pick one character

I didn't write that because of my W/L but because I want to learn this game . When I wrote that I was almost 1:1 with about 1-2 more losses and now, I'm quite positive and I also got a 20 win streak . Raiden is awesome :evilgrin1:

I suggest maybe a zone-heavy character (like subby), where you don't necessarily have to get in. Try noob, or nightwolf (zoner AND anti-zoner with reflect.. he's my 2nd main from Mr. Cage ) if you're looking for a good character suggestion.. but other than that dash-block to get in, low projectile(Liu Kang) try throwing out ice clones often to catch the enemy, etc etc. hope i helped

Thanks for the suggestions, but I have decided to stick by Raiden. His teleport and Ex-Superman shuts down zoners and his hat is awesome .
